Also would have loved Totem Park (four blocks away) and the Raptor Center (a mere 15 minute walk or 3 minute shuttle). There is plenty to do in Sitka, if you look for it. Did you stop by the church? You know the one in the middle of the road? The first Russian Orthodox church in North America? Or swing by the Pioneer Home? Or go to the Elizabeth Miller Museum? BTW...you did go one place I would never recommend. The Raven Room, in the Westmark Hotel is not favored but us locals, about 300 feet away you would have found the Bayview. Better service, prices and food, and good conversation from locals.Anyways, didn't mean to sound defensive. You just came off as dismissive. We locals like the town the way it is, and if tourists don't, I can assure you we wont lose sleep over it. Peace!

Let me assure you, had you gone to Castle Hill (about two blocks from Raven Room) you would have loved it.
