Like a red balloon, pop pop pop pop.” We'll also give you this track from the late Freddie Mercury: “All we see is Internet pop-ups. Internet pop-ups. Let them go.” Plus, what would a compilation be without something from Blondie: “Once I was online and it was a gas. Soon turned out, I wanna kick your ass. Seemed like the real thing, only to fi-i-ind mucho mistrust – you've lost your mind.” Order today and we'll throw in Disc 2 with our staff's personal favorites: “If you're blue and you don't know who to market to why don't you do an all out blitz… pop-up is the [bleep].” and “Oh pop-up, what a pity, you don't understand – I wanna kill that window when it tries to make a stand.” If you order today, we promise to send you extra special offers from our partners through e-mail… every single second… for the rest of your life! “When a pop-up comes along, you must click it. When even more come alone, don't forget to click it.” (parody of Devo-”Whip It”)

Have you ever daydreamed about getting one of these major SPAMmers on a rack, asking them why they send SPAM? Then, when they start with all the talk about “not an illegal activity” and “direct marketing”, you flip a switch that sends a great deal of electricity to their genitals? Then, ever the polite and well-mannered torturer, you apologise for all this nastiness, and perhaps they just didn't understand the question? I'm not sure if I need therapy, or if this would be considered a “healthy imagination”… :)

Sorry, in the above comment, substiture “SPAM” with “pop-up ad weasels”. Got carried away there. Actually, it applies equally to SPAMmers and pop-up ad f$#@wads.

How is it that you got overlooked for the most Humorous blog of the year???? Great post. Not just a rant, but a sarcastic tribute to all that which is marketing. Pop-up advertisers would probably love the idea as long as they can throw voice-over ads in the middle of the songs randomly.

I've recently figured out how to stop pop-ups successully… don't surf the web.
However, that's practically impossible.
