Hi I am a 16 year old female on Anti depressants. I totally get your article. I am on 20 mlgs of Prozac a day and 100 mlgs of Trazodone a night. I can say that I really do not feel a difference but they just keep changing my dozes and switching medication. I've already figured out I'm allergic to two of them. I also go to therapy. I just get so tired of taking pills everyday of my life! I just want off. Also they tell us these medications aren't addictive right? Well how come they have to ween us off of them and if we just quit we go into withdrawal?

good article I think for Americans the first thing everyone wants to do (including doctors) is to get people on a perscription. Lets drug up the Nation and keep us all drugged up in living in a fog of drugs..

instead of looking at diet, food allergies, digging up the root causes of why the person is having all this going on etc...I am a firm beliver that there is a lot more to this than something in the body chemically that is not balanced but more on a emotional level...same as weight gain and not able to lose the wgt. Look at biggest loser especially this season if you have not learned something about yourself thru the process of losing wgt they you have not learned anything...like Jillian says when you get to that point when working out and you cry and want to quit that is FEAR leaving the body...I think we really need to take a good look in our selves for the answers instead of looking for a drug to numb us..

I used to know this guy who was hyperactive and people said that he should be on ritalin. Well, apparently he used to be but got taken off of it because someone finally realized that the meds were making him ten times worse. He should've never been on them in the first place. But that's the answer, right? If they're hyperactive you just throw ritalin at them and everything will be fine, right?

Thank you for writing this article. It hit to home for me.

I've suffered from life-long depression, having come from a Dysfunctional family with constant emotional problems.

I was a rebellious kid with a few learning challenges. Looking back, I could see some present day teacher branding me as having ADHD, and wanting to drug me into submission.

I'm glad I went to school in the 1950's and 1960's, mostly because they didn't have all the drugs they have now.

Unfortunately all too many "emotionally challenged" people (like my mother) suffered from bad treatment in the more primitive area of Mental Health.

Parents and educators need to take a good close look at children and students, and look for the more natural treatments that you've described.

Thanks again for this article.
