Server Move

As stated in last night’s Windows Fanatics Lockergnome report, we’re moving servers – and a lot of things might not work well for a couple of days. I believe we’ll be good to go by Gnomedex, and I realize this was horrible timing on our part. The discussion lists are non-functional for the time being, so I’d hope that if you were subscribed to any one of them, you also subscribe to my personal space. I’m using Ecto for Windows to post this update and… so far, I’m not at all impressed with Ecto. I don’t understand why everybody and their grandmother has been recommending it?! w.Bloggar is infinitely better – even though I’d be willing to pay for a fantastic and fast desktop blogging client.

I’m a big fan of w.bloggar with the Mozilla gecko. Mmm…. quick rendering

Never heard of Ecto. Of course I am new to blogging. I have been using a Firefox extension that I think is pretty cool. It is called Performancing. I also have it loaded on my U3 drive with my portable Firefox so I can blog from any PC.

Good luck with the move Chris.

Do you use linux servers? Are you changing companies, or just upgrading hardware? I am interested because I am not too impressed in my current host.

Ecto for Mac is quite good, and that’s likely what you’ve seen people recommending.

Matthew R. Miller:

Hi, basically you might call it a little housekeeping, rearranging, etc. Nothing major or reflective of the host specifically. Things are moving right along.

BlogJet – http://blogjet.com

Have been using it for a couple years. Every time I try a new one I end up going right back to BlogJet.

Hey Chris,

I’ve been actually looking for a new hobby project. If you drop me a line with some of the features you’re looking for in your blogging client, I just might be able to whip something up made-to-order! :)

Hope Gnomedex goes smoothly for you!

For gawds sakes – tell us WHY you don’t like it. It’s almost meaningless trying to have a discussion about it with something to react to. Icon’s look goofy? Not enough eye candy? Kung-fu domain freak you out?

I use Ecto all the time to manage about a dozen blogs and love it. Seems to work. Always has.
