Intel Expected to Cut Pentium 4 Prices Over Weekend – Northwood is the code name for Santa Clara, California-based Intel's newest Pentium 4 chip, in which some of the dimensions are as small as 0.13 microns. By comparison, a human hair is about 50 microns wide. By moving to smaller line widths, Intel is able to put 55 million transistors on a single chip, and it has said it gets about twice as many chips per wafer on the 0.13 micron manufacturing process than with the 0.18 micron process.
Very cool! By the way, we've spec'ed out a machine for my mom; I believe FullBrain will be building it for us. Five fans might be overkill for her, though. She's not the overclocking type – unless she's cooking lasagne.

Dude. I want one. Anyone got a few hundred bucks I can borrow? I'm good for it. I'll come over to your house on the weekends and give your cat computer lessons. I'm a certified professional, you know. I've mastered Microsoft Paint. How many people can say that? Don't even try running the Microsoft Movie Maker without taking some kind of class first. It's the right thing to do. Hire me. Will eat for work.

OS =s ???
If WinXP, consider upping ram to 384mb – some have found that WinXP likes to “use” 265mb (!) or more.

what is a socket 473? I've heard of 478 and 423, but not 473. Also 5 fans? This thing is gonna sound like a blender. The system is sweet. I would swap the cd for a dvd and possibly swap the hd for a seagate barracuda 4. Ultra quiet. BTW, get her Windows ME. That way she will call you often What speakers and OS?
