E-Mail:

Screw You, AOL!

Hey AOL - you've continued to block legit Lockergnome newsletters from entering mailboxes across the world. We thought we had the problem solved, but apparently someone on your end is still screwing up. Meanwhile, thousands of people are asking us why they're not receiving our content through e-mail. Is it time for me to alert members of the press that you're censoring people who pay for your service? I think so.

You mean people are still using AOL? I remember back in the early 90s when AOL was the only ISP in my area. Thankfully nowadays I don't have to put up with their ****.

AIM is great fun though! Especially while using Trillian Pro!! Weee hoo!!!

AOL continues to block my domain's mail because I haven't called them long-distance and sat on hold to tell them to do otherwise. I have people that I can't contact any other way than email (or in person, scheduled by email), and have to use an outside account just to send mail to them. I agree, screw AOL. :-(

I say its time for an all out AOL boycott

I don't like AOL. The only reason I have it at home is because my son and my wife like it. That and I have Anthony Hopkin's creepy voice saying, “is that you Clarisse?” when it starts up. By the way, is that a cup of Starbucks I see in your hand?

AOL is a communist group!

They can do what they like.

If people only have AOL as their ISP, (let's assume everyone has multiple ISP choices at this point in technology), are the AOLers really a target market of a “geek” publication(s) likeLockergnome? Is it really worth the hassle to bring them in the fold? I realize they are the 400 pound gorrila in terms of users, but are those users really Tech/Net savvy, and if they are why are they still (only) on AOL?

They're on AOL because they believe AOL _is_ the Internet. They want Fun! Flash! Pop! Sizzle! AOLers are looking for E! crossed with MTV crossed with HNN. AOL is their friend, and their protector. It doesn't make mistakes. Remember, these people subscribe to a service that just figured out how to let people sort their email by subject. Face it. 20 million people have drunk the Kool-Aid

AOL = evil. No simpler way to say it.
Not only is AOL a horrid ISP, but they require you to run their software to logon to the Internet. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Why would I want to run a (large) program in the background to connect to the internet? Their program is bulky, hard to use, and sends you ads. Ads! I thought you had to pay to use AOL? When I buy something, I don't expect to have ads all over the place. Some in extreme moderation, but not on every screen; every time I try to do something.
Common people stop looking at the hype and use a little common sense. Flush the AOL browser and everything about them. If they want to be an ISP then be an ISP and not a program developer and ad board and apparently a censor. Now if only there was a way to get that across to the masses…

AOL Sucks is not really a News Flash.

AOL makes baby jesus cry

Damnit! AOL kicked me off line before I could submit my comment! . . . Again! I'm not kidding either. Anyway, let's see if I can remember what I wrote: I hate AOL. The only reason I have it is because I'm not the one paying the bills in this house. I'm too wrapped up in school to get a job right now. I can't wait until I can get a real ISP. I signed up for a couple of your newsletters awhile ago. I got them alright, but my computer at home died, and I wasn't able to check my mail as often. So, I decided to opt-out for awhile. When I got my new computer, I signed up again, but I have yet to receive another news letter. Are you permanently removed once you opt-out? My case might not be AOL's fault, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. *copys comment just in case*

I have a question for AOL: “Is the president of AOL satan?”

I think this is just awful. I really hated to hear of this. I have a “real” ISP and i get each and every newsletter you guys send out. When i used to work for an ISP i would hear all the time that AOL would block many emails from their servers. Why its just AOL.

I have 1 thing to sum it all up…
AOL SUCKS

Yeah, **** AOL. It's as simple as that. The only useful thing they have ever provided me with is AIM.

Oh yes.. they block Lockergnome newsletters.. BUT you can ALWAYS rely on your 10x daily dose of “***** enlargement” emails!! ;p I notice they let those in! hmmm

I SMELL A LAWSUIT!!

Hey… Who's the English-speaking German that reads the text? ;-)

If theres other things I hate AOL for is their annoying CDs that keep arriving in the mail. I am running out of room on my living room table using the blasted cds for coasters so to speak.

Get rid of your AOL Cds: http://www.nomoreaolcds.com

the only good thing about aol is that they won't kick u off if you don't pay your bill for like 6 months. hey now 6 months free aol, not like i've ever done that….

netpanday: Use them to decorate a wall! :) I havent tried it yet but I am collecting them in the hopes of building a palace! Martha Stewart would be proud. ;) Maybe I'll suggest it to her for a segment of her show. Top 10 things to do with AOL cds. ;p

Ugh, i remember being with AOL=HELL over 5 years ago, in canada, Now I am on CABLE, love it, cannot even imagine going back!!

Ah, the AOL virus strikes again!

I wonder how many people watch AOL commercials and think WebMD is only available to AOL-users ;)

AOL blocked my entire Comcast subnet from sending email to their users. 4,194,304 IP addresses… banned. And from what other AOL users tell me, they STILL get spam! What a crappy and ineffective way of dealing with the problem! :sigh:

I just cancelled my AOL account a few days ago, I'm finally over with the evil beast that sucks ….Death to Aol!!!

yeah, i wonder what is the deal with them. they are blocking email from my work too. A few weeks ago we called them and thought we had it all taken care of. nope! we got back some emails that we sent out to our customers.. AOL has always sucked ***.

Everytime someone joins AOL, God kills a kitten.

AOHell is more like it. they lack in all aspects.

Why are people using AOL still anyway? AOL SUCKS! Boo to AOL! Boo to Microsoft too!

They need to take a few pointers from Yahoo mail. They do a good job of weeding out the spam and get you your mail to read. When they do mess up, you can report it and they rectify the error.
AOL = America OffLine
8^P

I think they aren't getting due to the fact they are blocking your email domain–if AOL thinks it's spam they will block the email domain from sending mail to their mail servers…..

AOL's cancer has been consuming its body for some time now. It knows it, some users can see it. Some users are in denial, while others simply don't pay attention. AOL is dying. It is desperatly trying to heal itself with things like AOL for broadband, but it will not be long before AOL is dead.

AOL has been providing an inferior service for way to long. Their users need to realize that there are an abundance of better ISP's out there that are cheaper and more reliable. Down with AOL!

The people who join AOL are the same people who are under the hypnosis spell of Microsoft. They think, well, it's so popular, it has to be good! Then they are totally oblivious to any problems they encounter thinking that their trusty AOL will weed things out for them. Kind of like the many that deal with MS Windows all the time, faithful MS zombies that will look no further not even to try another. I think their (AOL/MS) goals have been achieved. (Being a indirect monopoly) =P
My $0.02

Hey Daniel, ****-off.
You can call me a scum sucking pig because I write Windows applications. But when you call me an AOL user… **** you.

and whois aol anyway?
