Screencasting Software

http://live.pirillo.com/ – RathofMac is a regular visitor to our chat room at live.pirillo.com. He is wondering what free software is out there for screen capturing. And of course… he’s running Vista 64-bit.
The only freeware I know of for screen capturing is CamStudio. However, I’m being told by our chatters that it doesn’t work on Vista.
One of our sponsors is TechSmith. I know you said their Fantasia Studio didn’t work for you. Have you tried the Jing ?? It is a free download, as well. I’m being told it works on Vista, so try it out. If you have any issues with it on Vista 64-bit, email them to me and I’ll pass them along to TechSmith. Jing will do screen capture, images and record videos… and publish to the web for you. The only issue I have with it is that it only publishes to screencast.com. I can’t publish directly to YouTube. If I could, I would use Jing so much it would be crazy!

Btw, for those unfamiliar with Jing, it’s a screen capture software that’s super easy to use. The best part about Jing is that it uploads images right to your hosting service like Flickr Chris Pirillo explains it betterhereand watch his video review for CNN here I used it for a while, but switched to Skitch since Skitch hosts images and keeps my Flickr clutter free. Sorry to PC users, Skitch is only for Macs =( What screen capturing service do you use? Am I missing

Hi Chris!
Don’t overlook this company’s screen recorder applications:
