Schweddy Balls

It's hotter than an oven in our apartment tonight. I've had to change my shirt four times since 10AM, dropping darn near 27 pounds of sweat throughout the day. The only thing keeping me cool is the new Google Toolbar. With a Popup Blocker: and AutoFill functionality, this is becoming even more of a “must have” app. I don't like how it pushes search terms to the right of my buttons, but that's only a minor bugaboo. I also ran NewsMonster through the wringer – and watched the latest Mozilla RC choke on it. There are only a few things keeping me from making 'the Moz' my default browser (support for ClearType fonts, opening '_blank' windows in a new tab, faster on-screen XUL performance, IE-styled CTRL+Enter functionality, better on-the-fly tab organization, better download manager, etc.). Good times. Good times.

Is your A/C out?

Is there spyware in the new Google toolbar?

Run adaware after downloading the toolbar and see. ;-)

You need the TabBrowser extensions. You can get them from http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/ . Gives you tab duplication (with history), open links to other sites in background tabs, drag-n-drop tab reorganization, tab grouping by color, progress-bar on tabs , single window mode (all pages open in tabs except those you ask for in new windows). It's just so loaded, but simple enough for everyday use.

We don't have A/C… not many people in SF do, since you don't really need it other than about a week out of the year.

Get a electric fan. It's good for foul odors too. :)

I have to agree with James on that point. I am “all about my box fan” here in Washington State.
It is too cool here for A/C but sometimes you need a fan though.

*AH* I live in texas and can't think of an environmet with out A/C! HAHA! The fact that you may not have it never occured to me!

The only problem is, does anyone use Internet Explorer anymore? :-)

Haven't tried the Google Toobar beta yet but on previous versions you just go to “toolbar options” and turn off “word-find buttons” to stop the display of search terms on the toolbar.
I love Google by the way but does anybody besides me ever feel like Google is the Internet version of crack? How close is Google to BECOMING the Internet for all intents and purposes?
If you really want to get paranoid, check out http://www.google-watch.org/ .

Mozilla has something similar to IE's ctrl-enter (adding www. and .com onto a word). If you type something that doesn't look like a URL, moz will try to load http://www.notaurl.com
True, it's not exaclty same .. but it's there :)

One word chris, Firebird.
OK, here's a few more words.
The “TBE” extension give you all the tab options you could want (and then some), and I've been using the new “download status bar” extension, which organizes the downloads on a nice bar on the bottom of your browser (ss here: http://www.flatrabbit.com/gallery/stuff/tabdl).
I haven't opened IE in a year or so now, and even before that I was using the Moz as my default. Come to think of it I've been using Mozilla based browsers since Mozilla was a wee Milestone 8.
Firebird really is the browser of the future.
OK, that was more than a few words.

damn ').' got stuck in there…..i forgot the space….oops.
here's the url without it:

if you want any more Firebird fanaticism you know where to find me.

In Moz 1.3.1, if I type in lockergnome and hit Alt+Enter, it opens http://www.lockergnome.com.
In Firebird, I can do the same but I have to hit Ctrl+Enter instead.

How does that quote go?…”The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco”..

Holy crap! I didn't realize that they had added the Ctrl+Enter combo in Firebird. Ahh….that was the only 'feature' from IE that I've ever missed.

Man, I remember Internet Explorer.

Geez, you geeks (god love you), make me feel like a AOL dial-up user running WinME on a E-machine. IE does everything I've ever needed in a browser, but I'm not as upwardly mobile as some people. As long as it can do HTML, I'm a happy camper. I would miss the Ctrl-Enter thing and the backspace/back button thing however =)

Just my 2¢ – I like having the search terms highlighted in the Google search bar, 'cause sometimes on large pages I don't readily see the word for which I was searching. Clicking the word in the toolbar causes the browser to jump right to the word, Very handy.

Control T brings up a blank tab in Moz for me

Why is this making the rounds of hundreds of blogs?
