Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

I was working out for the second time today (couldn't help it – I had a big meal of wonderful sushi and felt guilty) when I tuned into CBS and discovered the Rankin-Bass stop-motion Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer playing for kids young and old. I watched it for a little while and… had to change the channel. Rudolph just doesn't look the way he used to look, IMHO. The animation hasn't changed a bit since it was first broadcast – a fact that is blatantly apparent to any adult eye. I tried to view Rudolph with the same sense of wonder I once contained, but my logical senses were knocking me over. I don't want 'em to record a CGI version over the audio track, but I can't help but wonder if they could possibly do an updated stop motion animation over it? Older cartoons don't seem as dated to me, so perhaps it's just my eyes. I witnessed way too many “out of sync” moments between Rudolph, the Abominable Snow Monster, Hermie, Yukon Cornelius… between their “lips” and their speech. Kinda started driving me nuts. Anybody got a time machine so I can travel back to when I was three years old and watch it for the first time again? I'll try it one more time when ABC Family airs it during their Christmas show marathon. Rudolph: you're still cool in my book, but I think you need to see a speech therapist.
