Wal-Mart has a membership plan: http://www.walmart.com/dvd/select_plan.gsp Monthly fee's range from $15.54 to $21.94 with the first 30 days free. They have 3 different types of plans, and the monthly limit is unlimited. W!LL.i.AM

I don't have “on demand” or anything similar. And I don't usually know if I want to own a DVD until I've seen it. So, renting is still a good option for me. If I think I will probably want to own it, I usually just buy it and dont rent. But lots of times, just seeing it once is enough.

Blockbuster 'ended' late fees by having you automatically buy the DVD past a certain date and charging you a restocking fee if you try to b ring it back past that date. They sound like the same chiselers they always were.

Well if you want to own instead of rent then BLockbuster's new policy is for you. If you haven't already, read the fine print. Sure, they don't have late fees anymore.. now if you keep it too long they just charge you for the DVD and you own it. Seems like a marketing scam to me… they make it out like they are doing their customers a favor, but in the end they could actually be making more cash this way.
