From Wiki
The following are the show notes for the July 14th, 2005 edition of the Chris Pirillo Show.
Chris’ Trip to Vancouver
Chris talked about his trip to Vancouver, Canada and a visit to a Sony Store. Chris was tempted to purchase something but hesitated since he didn’t research it. ALWAYS research before making a purchase.
Time Change
Chris mentioned that we might be changing the LIVE air time for the show, possibly a few hours earlier on Thursday, or perhaps a day change.
Music in Podcasts
Andrew called to ask about playing music in Podcasts. Copyrighted mMusic cannon legally be played in a podcast without paying for the rights to it. Chris suggested finding some Creative Commons licensed music that is open and available for use non-commercially. A past guest on the CP Show was Matt of StaccatoMusic.org and his podcast features CC licensed music that can be used in other podiatrists.
Menus on Web Pages
Jeff called to ask how he can easily update the menu across all pages of his web site. Chris suggested that he use SSI includes or PHP includes to include the a common template or menu in all the pages across his site. Chris also recommend using CSS. Jeff also asked for some resources. Chris recommends the TopStyle CSS Editor.
Banner Ads
8-Bit Jake called in to ask about web advertising and what type of Ad Service would be best. Chris highly recommends using Google Adsense as banner images don’t pay as high as text ads. Banner images tend to slow the page loading down, get over looked, and don’t get clicked. Chris also recommended BlogAds.
Jake also suggested using the NVU CSS Editor.
This Week In Games
This Week In Games covered a lot this week, including:
- Sega and Secret Level’s partnership to bring a classic Sega franchise to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
- Rare, owned by Microsoft, will be developing games for the Nintendo DS.
- Fable: The Lost Chapters will see the light of day as an Xbox Platinum hit.
- Marlon Brandos voice will not be heard in The Godfather video game.
- EA and John Madden ink a multi-uear deal.
- Rockstar’s infamouse Grand Theft Auto brand may get a spanking from the ESRB.

Read a Linux Partition from Windows
LordKat (aka Jason of This Week in Games and GeekStreak.com) called in to ask for a software recommendation. He was looking for a program that can read his Linux Partition from Windows. Chris recommended Explore2fs
Keyloggers
Debora, a new Lockergnome Forum Admin, called in to ask where she can find a keylogger. She wants to keylog her children as a saftey net. Most keyloggers require the system to be running as an Administrator which isn’t a good idea for a child’s account. Chris wasn’t aware of any.
Since Debora was most concerned about the Children compromising the security of the system he recommend that some Anti-Virus, and Anti-Spyware be installed. He also recommended removing the children’s computer from the network and only allowing them to use a free dial-up ISP.
Jake’s Media Blab
Jake spoke about handcrank flashlights which don’t require batteries and available at Target, Walmart, and most local hardware stores.

Unlocking Cellphones
usrbingeek called to ask how he can get a more full featured cellphone from another source and use it with his current carrier, Verizon Wireless. Verizon currently doesn’t have any offerings with full bluetooth compatibility that would work with his car’s handsfree system. Chris suggested he ask at PDAPhoneHome since the community there is filled with very knowledgeable cellphone geeks.
Wireless Tech Radio
Jim Sutton left a voice mail to plug his show, WirelessTechRadio and asked ???
