You're familiar with The Cluetrain Manifesto, right? Well, one of
the authors has crafted an
exclusive PDF which we can get to you for free. How? Glad you
asked. From David Weinberger: Order any
GnomeTome over the next
couple of weeks and receive for free (no money, no handling
charges, no nothing) the printable PDF version of “What the Web Is
For?,” the kids' version of David Weinberger's highly praised new
book, “Small
Pieces Loosely Joined: A Unified Theory of the
Web
.” The printable PDF version, complete with hokey
illustrations, is available only through this special offer. “What
the Web Is For?” introduces kids in grades 6-9 to the biggest
picture of what it means to live in a networked, connected world.
It's not about the technology of the Web and it doesn't begin
“Once upon a time there was a little unit of information called
'Bitty the Bit…'” It's about what the Web does to some of our
deepest concepts, like space, time and friendship. In fact, it's
good reading for kids 6-92. (We apologize to 93 year olds. We had
to draw the line somewhere.)
Our first exclusive! Sweetness!

This question has been asked of us before: “I wanted to get my new
Pocket PC linked up via AvantGo to the Lockergnome channel.
Unfortunately, it throws out an error. Is there any chance of this
being fixed soon?” Jake's answer: “Not unless someone has several
thousand dollars to donate for us to offer it. As long as AvantGo
tries to get us to pay them for our content, it will remain as it
is – with very few people being able to access their service. As
it stands, they expect us to pay them to offer our content to
subscribers for free, which means we'd be paying for the
priveledge of letting you read our content on your Pocket PC, with
no means of recouping that cost.” Well, the market certainly isn't
what it used to be. I suggest using our static issue URLs as
Mobile Favorites for the time being. Unless you're using
Mozilla v1.0 (which leaped out
of beta stages this afternoon)! In which case, you may have to
find another way to sync Web stuff. Promise me one thing either
way? Enjoy the day's screen
captures
.

If you were staring at my Webcam at any point in the past day, you
may have noticed that I was holding up a huge bag of fresh, unground
coffee beans from The Supreme Bean.
I have to thank Mark Prince (the kid from Coffee Geek)
for the introduction. He says it's better than Peet's; from what I
can tell so far, it's at least that good. I've yet to find a blend
that tastes exactly like the brew I get at “the shop” every morning.
Regardless, I'm very thankful for this gift. I've been trying to cut
down on my post-workday caffeine, so perhaps I'll have to host a
coffee tasting party sometime soon? I know a handful of us Bay Gnomies
are getting together for an upcoming TMBG
concert
, perhaps we'll have a pre-show celebration? Either that,
or I'll share some cups with my co-workers. After all, good coffee
tastes even better when you're sharing it with others. Just make sure
that each person has their own mug. Drinking out of the same beverage
container isn't recommended in these kinds of situations. I like the
real cream in my jazz juice, while others settle for half and half (which
beats non-dairy creamer any day of the week). I've no joy for soy.

Hey just glad I could help out, Chris. Besides. I don't like Peets >;-)

Not liking Peets? Isn't that like sacrilege or something? j/k…

Only around Pirillo's house. :)
