Depending on how local an area it is that person may decide it's there lucky day and just hang on to the device. I think this is where Mobile Me is most effective as if you can connect to the person who has the device then it sways them to return it.It's not that it combats theft (though disrupts it), but allows you to identify your ownership of the device to the person who has found it.

I agree with the find my phone feature.

If someone steals your phone then one would argue that they won’t return it regardless of how well you can trace it and you’ll never see it again.

The more likely scenario, however, is that you will misplace your phone and someone else will find it. When I use Goog-411 and have it sent as a txt message, the search would help me locate a contact that has come in that way. Without it searching txt messages I still have to scroll through the Goog411 messages to find a number.

I would have liked to have seen the Spotlight Search hit my txt messages. I wanted one when the second version came out, but held out until the price became affordable. Although the OS seems very intuitive, I realize that I have a lot more to learn to be proficient.

I purchased an iPhone3G less than a week ago. No 3G where I live and no announcements that it's forthcoming. Also, I use Dvorak typing and was thankful that Macintosh brought it forward many years ago. So, being ADD and dsylexic, I learned to type notwithstanding my challenges.Unfortunately, Apple hasn't seen fit to release a dvorak keyboard arrangement, so its back to hunt and peck. This is a lousy deal and Apple should suck it up by releasing this keyboard arrangement. Apple has always prided itself in providing access for disabilities. So where from where did this oversight come?

The upgrade is tremendous! Then there is AT&T!
