Each one lived to be 11 so the short lifespan issue is not always true. I have had other dogs, but none have ever lived up to the amount of complete love that bulldogs have for their owners. Make sure you shop around and get the pup with the right attitude for you. Roll him or her over on their back and see of they can breathe well. That's how I obtained my two children, the mini-longhair doxies. That said, rescue efforts are a wonderful way to find quality pets -- but you may often find pets that don't mix well with children this way as well, because of bad experiences. Either way, good luck!
