Power of the Internet
Don Smith writes: “You will be saddened to hear that we lost a devoted Lockergnomie this week.
He was my very best friend and a devoted Gnomie and was buried today. His name was Paddy Lawler from Melbourne, Australia.
Paddy died of a heart attack. After I got him to sign up he was always saying – 'Did you see that today on Lockergnome?' I miss him terribly and he is a great loss to our community. Thanks for listening, I delivered his Eulogy today and mentioned just how he loved your site along with everything on the Net. Take care Chris. Life is so short isn't it. Another devoted Lockergnomie in Australia.”

Let us bow our heads for a moment of silence, please, for Paddy Lawler. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Thank you.

Isn't that really the whole point of all this technology that we love? Bringing ideas, and like minded people together who otherwise would never meet. An interesting follow-up to this would be to find out where all the daily readers are on the map.

this is my third time in a week or so of hearing bad news about a fellow blogger. Perhaps some reposts of Paddys are in order to help any of us who are not already get re-aquianted with.
Good journey paddy.

“life is short” indeed, I think to myself watching the coverage of today's space shuttle disaster. :(

Yes, this is indeed a time for sadness for all Americans, all humans. Always tragic to lose our best and brightest. I'm not sure what Paddy did during his lifetime, but the fact that he was a big follower of Lockergnome speaks volumes about his thirst for knowledge and his quest to be a better person. And I say that without any irony or sarcasm. My heart is with those who have lost loved ones today.

I don't think this terrible tragedy has anything to do with lack of funding. This was no more a funding failure as was the Challenger horror.
