I got tired of it too Chris. What I started doing was to put a label around the cords so I would know what they went to. I bet I have thirty of them. I finally put up hooks to hang them across to because I got tired of tripping over them.

Every cable I get as part of a new camera, player, younameit, I label using a silver sharpie. There is always enough room on one connector end or the other to write a cryptic word describing what the cable is used for. Once labeled, all cables are either stored in a common cable place, or with the device with which they are used. I have no more cable torment.

Hello,

A few years ago I came to the conclusion that having to buy sets of new sync/charge cables for all the MP3 players/PDAs/Phones and other portable electronic devices that connect with my computers at car, home and work was pointless. Since then I have only purchased devices which have USB 4-pin standard Type A or 5-pin Mini-B connectors. Now I can connect devices to charge them, synchronize data and explore them without having to worry about having the appropriate custom cable to do so.

Regards,

I'm feeling you right at this very moment - my MacBook's magnet power cord frayed at the computer end and is now broken, leaving me with a unusable laptop until I go buy another proprietary replacement for $80. While I appreciate the magnet system, I feel like I'm being taken for when I have to replace it. The high cost is actually driving me to second-hand sellers on eBay.
