What I started doing was to put a label around the cords so I would know what they went to. I bet I have thirty of them. I finally put up hooks to hang them across to because I got tired of tripping over them.Thomas

I got tired of it too Chris. There is always enough room on one connector end or the other to write a cryptic word describing what the cable is used for. Once labeled, all cables are either stored in a common cable place, or with the device with which they are used. I have no more cable torment.

Every cable I get as part of a new camera, player, younameit, I label using a silver sharpie. Since then I have only purchased devices which have USB 4-pin standard Type A or 5-pin Mini-B connectors. Now I can connect devices to charge them, synchronize data and explore them without having to worry about having the appropriate custom cable to do so.Regards,Aryeh Goretsky

Hello,

A few years ago I came to the conclusion that having to buy sets of new sync/charge cables for all the MP3 players/PDAs/Phones and other portable electronic devices that connect with my computers at car, home and work was pointless. While I appreciate the magnet system, I feel like I'm being taken for when I have to replace it. The high cost is actually driving me to second-hand sellers on eBay.

I’m feeling you right at this very moment – my MacBook’s magnet power cord frayed at the computer end and is now broken, leaving me with a unusable laptop until I go buy another proprietary replacement for $80.
