How about just being a little more conscious of what you're putting into your hole. I don't know...with some people, saying that seems worse than using the term portion control. It forces them to actaully think about the amount of food going into their body. Most over-eaters don't have that kind of attention span.

Maybe portion control is a tad bit annoying. If someone puts a *huge* plate of food in front of you and you eat it all out of some sense of needing to clean your plate then you have zero control and frankly deserve to get fat. This entire government babysitter mandate is ridiculous. Let places serve entire sides of beef, deep-fried and filled with cheese, for $2.99 if they so want. Let those that can't stop eating die early so they don't procreate and pass on either their genetic propensity to consume or their poor self-control.Too many people all too easily want to give up their personal freedoms and choices to some governing body. They'd much rather have someone tell them what to eat, when to eat, what to think, who to vote for, etc. In a way it's the same reason the whole two-party system will never disappear... it's just plain easier to vote if you can side with a party and just go the way they tell you to.When we finish all the food that's put in front of us because it's there or out of some freakish perceived social notion then we are little more than cattle. When we supersize because it's a perceived "better value" then we are putting the value of the dollar over the value of our health and in those times we deserve to be called, very literally, capitalistic pigs.

I agree in a way, I hate the whole concept of laws forcing restaurants to restrict their portion size. We've plummeted to the level where folks sue cigarette manufacturers because of smoking-related illness, and sue fast food companies over junk-food related illness.

I’m with you… personal responsibility is a good thing, which there is far too little of in this country.
