I'm sick of trying to explain as well. It's too bad because I like the idea of podcasts a lot, but I don't dig the name and hell I podcast at http://www.rbradio.net and http://www.accidenthash.com .
I wish it had a better name. Oh well..

Huh??
I'm really getting weary of all these instant fads, three (and four) letter acronyms that change faster than an active blogger's blog, etc.
The only reason I even attempt to "keep up" is:
1. so I know what to stay away from and
2. sometimes, in the midst of it all, a piece of important general information is casually thrown in - like something that applies to everyday web/internet use.
Whew. Can understand why people get fed up and just unplug.
Happy with my dial-up connection? Oh, yes!!
