I have no dial tone on my regular phone line, but the DSL connection still works. Perhaps it's time I stop lurking in Broadband Reports and sign up for an account already? I can't find a better online resource for ISP quandaries. I've been working with CableNut to get my MTU / RWIN / etc. in line; these settings can be tricky. Since my wireless router is still up north, I picked up a BEFSX41 yesterday. I'll optimize this connection sooner or later. Time for coffee.

I can't believe you're a Linksys junkie. I used to buy Linksys products, now I buy Netgear.

God, this SBC experience has been hideous!

Linksys hasn't let me down yet!
DSLReports is definitely a good resource on broadband tech.

No kidding. I can't recall seeing Chris frown before. Chris, have some Peets, take a deep breath, and show us a smile. :-)

Ooh… ooh…
Stupid, obvious question: Did you put those handy little filter plugs between your phone jack and telephones?
If you got the same SBC install kit as me, there should be about 4 short plugs. I know that if those aren't in, your phones don't get a dialtone. When I got DSL at my first house, the install guy was nice and installed one filter at the base of my phone box. When I moved, I didn't have that one filter anymore and had to put the plugs on each jack.

I may not be a techie, geeky chick, yet…but I used to climb telephone poles to repair phone lines…
So FYI to prevent further phone problems, such as Noise on DSL line… ie, loud static while trying to talk on the phone, that will have an annoying habit of coming and then disappearing when the sun comes out….
have them put a splitter on the outside at the “protector” and run the DSL in on another pair of wires to a designated jack and your Phone line on the another pair … most places are now wired with 6 pair coming into the jacks… and you won't have to use phone filters with DSL wired this way.
At least that's how the Verizon DSL problem was corrected at my house.
anyway if you need more info on that let me know…

I have been with broadband reports for a while, it is a great site.

I am a frequent poster on Broadband Reports, Join Chris! We would love to see more people on the site… great soruce of info.

I just saw your post about dsl working and the home phone not working. I have the problem right now and was wondering what the solution was. Was it a house problem or did verizon fix it for you?

Thanks

M
