AOTC wasnt too shabby…It was a SERIOUS improvement over Ep I…It started out a bit slow but built up like a speeding train. One thing I have to say though: If you can see it in a DLP theater, DO IT…I saw it at the local one here in Dallas and I got to say it was a MAJOR improvement over the celluoid copy

You need to remember that when Episode IV, V, and VI came out… the technology used was just plain AMAZING… no other sci-fi movie(s) had ever looked so realistic.
I think that people are expecting the same kind of amazing new technoligy in Episode I and II… since that isn't really used, people just say, “that movie sucks”… or they didn't like Lucas using a computer for Jar Jar(hey, he's realistic… that's all I care about, if it looks realistic onscreen… I have no problem with CG charactors).
I can say this, I thought that both Episode I and II ROCKED!!! If you can, see Epiosde II in digital… the picture quality is a ton better(you might not notice though if you haven't seen a movie at the theator in awhile).

Lucas Film Part IV first not knowing if he would ever get to film another segment. Why pick part 4, because it was the most independent portion of the film. I believe that the saga when completed will take a new form. A film to be seen with 15 min intermissions in one day. It would no longer be separate movies, but one long film(about 12 hours long ). with news of lucas adding scenes to the original films, and with him allowing side films in the same universe to be film in 4 years the posibilities are endless.
I loved the new movie, even the “Naboo” scenes(which are needed). They could of choosen a better actor.Oh wel

Your “logic” reminds me of the Ebert/Roeper review of Episode II. here is an excerpt:
Ebert: I didn't feel any chemistry between them, and as for the things that they say, those are ancient ancient tired tired romantic cliches from a thousand thousand other movies!
Roeper: Well, this is a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. So maybe they invented these cliches. …
Ebert: Gee, that's a great idea.
Roeper: …And then Shakespeare got them from there.

I watched Episodes I, II, IV, V and VI over the past few days. I have to say there was just as much bad dialogue in the original three films as there was in Episodes I and II. I loved all the movies–and I'm not even a Star Wars fanatic. I think “I've got a bad feeling about this,” was the line said most often (by various characters, but mostly Han) in IV, V and VI. Whenever Lucas got stuck and didn't know what a character should say, “I've got a bad feeling about this,” got him out of having to write anything interesting. :>

Not that I agree with M's outlook, but lets remember that we are being entertained. Just sit back and enjoy what Lucas did.
Lucas = many many people who pool their rescources and try to create something that will be accepted as “good” while tingling the pocket books of the greater masses. And too, the development of movies like this push technology ahead whether it be inches or miles.

I must admit I liked AOTC. The first half is a bit sluggish and there several lines from Anakin to Padme that I could not help but cringe at, even given my deep empathy for guys who say absolute clangers to cute girls (personal experience and all that). The second half rocks, Jango and Boba Fett are great, and the ending doesn't actually bang you over the head with an overt get in line for the sequel right now kiddies. I also saw it on digital and that was well worth the hassle of making sure I was in the right theatre.
