I’ve never even thought about watching a podcast. I know they exist, but I just don’t get it. I have a gazillion audio podcasts that I download and try to keep up with on my commute or while doing the laundry or whatever. I haven’t the time to sit down and commit to *just* the podcast.

I barely have the time to keep up with the handful of TV shows that I want to watch.

You betcha – the Australian national broadcaster has hundreds of thousands of podcasts a month. Check out http://www.abc.net.au/rn/podcast/default.htm

Lately they have added vodcasts 9video) but with only a limited range of programs.

There is another reason for audio only: you can do other things while you are listening which is not true of video. It is inherent in the nature of video that it pulls our eyes away from other things even when the video is not necessary to understand the message.

CNN gets this with an audio-only feed of their TV signal available at their website and for decades, radios have been available that pick up only TV audio signals.

Video is fine when you have the time to sit and watch, but audio, radio, MP3 – whatever we call it – is often so much more efficient than video.

THANK YOU! I’ve been looking for this, I too listen rather than watch, it’s easier, audio fits easier, don’t have to worry about codecs and conversions like I have to on my wife’s ipod video. Audio is king!

It would be nice to be able to listen to it on my iPod Nano. I don’t have a video iPod or a PSP, so I really have no way of getting the information until I’m able to get to the computer.

I listen to about 70 hours of audio podcasts, I have a lot of commute time to spend, some walking, so audio is my preferred medium.
