Peet's Pirillo Power Pack
Today is the greatest day I've ever known. I'd like to thank the academy, my family, and most of all – Peet's Coffee. Check it out: sitting on their official Web site is something I never dreamed I'd see. It brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my lips. “It is our extreme pleasure to present to you the Pirillo Power Pack, complete with three of Chris's favorite Peet's coffees: Kenya, Major Dickason's Blend, and Sulawesi-Kalosi. It's a starter pack that was designed to bring your love of coffee to an entirely new level.” If you happen to get one, send me a digital picture of you drinking it and I'll treasure it forever.

So I’m at Peet’s coffee a while back —Pirillo loves it, and talked me into it — and I want to buy some beans. They look good, oily and dark. I move over to the counter, and the barrista looks up at me and asks if she can help me. As I’m about to open my mouth, I notice she

I sent them an email about a month ago and told them the only reason they were making so much money from me was because you turned me on to them. I'm just sure that is why this happened so I should get a free pack! HA HA! Congratulations.

What a marvelous marriage of technology and caffeine. Yes, you can order directly off of the web and have it delivered to your doorstep. I typically grind my Columbian coffee beans, but I'm willing to take a foray into Peet's world of titillating and tantalizing blends. Triple P, down the hatch. BTW, work on a reciprocal link between Peet's and your site. Way to go.

I don't drink coffee, (I'm more of a coca cola person) but I'm tempted to try to the Pirillo Pack.
Maybe I should try to convince coke to put out bottles of coke shaped like me?
Or maybe not.

Very nice Chris. Congratulations. Maybe now that you have some pull at Peet's, you can ask them what went wrong with their foray into Japan. I was in Japan on vacation for the past 2 weeks, and in dire need of my Peet's coffee. Word was there were 2 Peet's in Tokyo. I went to both locations only to find an abandonded shop. Several other Peet's lovers were with me and we wondered what may have gone wrong. Did the taste not appeal to the Japanese, maybe Peet's wasn't able to deal with the distribution system/costs there, or maybe they are just not famous enough in the US to make it interesting for the japanese?? I remained in a sleepy state for the rest of my vacation. Can't stand the watered down stuff at the ubiquituous Startb___s in Japan.

What can I say Chris… I'll put aside my usual comments about Peets, how they roast a bit too dark, how their roast chars out the more delicate flavours a bean like Sulawesi… ooops. I guess I didn't put those aside. But I'll say a hearty congrats on the beeg naming. Mind you, the stuff I've told you is nothing I haven't told to Peet's head roasters already…
