Peets Coffee Addiction
Peet’s explains their coffee better than I can:
At Peet’s we take freshness seriously. It is only by roasting and shipping the same day that we can be sure that you enjoy the distinctive deep-roasted flavor of Peet’s. We call it “Roaster-to-Cup” freshness, and you can taste the difference. When you choose Home Delivery, we ship right to your home – it is the freshest of the fresh. It’s the apple right off the tree, the bread right out of the oven…you get the picture.

Peets? I’ve tried it. Nespresso is better. There are 30+ strengths and bean combinations. Also comes with coffee makers that are gorgeous and built like tanks. It’s a major seller across Europe, where I live and where good coffee is taken VERY seriously. I don’t know how easy it is to get in the US but you’d ought to check if it’s around.

I used to live about a block from the original Peet’s store in Berkeley. I’d stumble up the street to buy a pound and share the complimentary cup with other Peetniks. Now I get through UPS.
I’ve found nothing to compare (including Nespresso and other European coffees) with the Major Dickason blend. Rich stuff, that. I make it with about a tablespoon of Penzey’s chunk cinnamon per pot (not required). And their special blends are outstanding.

Has anyone mentioned to you that driving and looking at your camera at the same time is dangerous?

I’m with you on this-Peet’s is awesome. I’m on the East coast so UPS is the only way to go for me. The best in the world claim is stretching it a bit. A few years ago, I found myself in Brazil, in a town called Bento Gonçlavés. Though the town is known for wine, I had a fresh brewed pot of what they were serving at my hotel every morning. As it turned out, they roasted and ground the beans-in house-and that was, hands down, the best coffee I’ve ever had including Peet’s. I like Peet’s because it reminds me of that coffee all those years ago. Another near Peet’s experience was had by a fellow I know from P.R. who brewed his coffee in a sock. Sounds unappealing I know, but what a great cup o’ Joe! Before you ask-it was his official coffee sock and had been laundered before use.
