Pedometer Walking
Since I've started to track my daily input and output through CalorieKing's desktop software, it's been suggested that I also track my daily steps. I'd say I walk an average of… maybe 25 feet during the day? From the bedroom to the computer. Of course, I'm not allowing for short trips to the fridge for yogurt, I suppose. Just to get a handle on my walking habits, I've gotta get a pedometer. There are so many of 'em out there, and I'm really not keen on pedometers that come with diet cereal. I did a quick search for pedometers and turned up plenty of results. Problem is: I don't know what I'm looking for in a walk-tracker. Just to give you an idea, here are the top results from an Amazon search:

Uh… I had no idea there were that many options. I just want one that won't break on me – is that too much to ask?

I did a lot of research and ended up with the Omron HJ-112. It's reasonably priced, very accurate and you don't even have to wear it! A lot of other pedometers are very picky about bein worn just right in order to work. This one works on your belt, in your pocket or in a purse. It also stores 7 days of history and calculates calories.
Happy walking!

The ideal is to walk 10,000 steps every day. I'll admit that I've only made it to 10,000 twice, but it is a nice goal and works out to about 3 miles. If you did 3 miles a day every day your 20 pounds of extra flab would disappear very quickly. Anyway, get the pedometer and try it.
