Well written. I agree. Explain any danger that you are concerned about to your kid, then turn 'em loose and let 'em go. Experience is very valuable.

only one quick comment... video surveillance in my opinion is a good thing to use. I personally have 4 cams in and around my house which I can view from the TV or from the web if I'm not at home. I have enjoyed seeing the kids when I'm not around for long periods of time (truck driver), I have also caught our home getting broken into once. A friend of mine setup his house the same way after I did, and caught his wife cheating on him.

So the need for them has been proven time and time again. Can webcams be used for adult entertainment, or in ways that one group sees as inappropriate? Sure they can, but it is those groups that like to stick there noises in others peoples lifestyles that ruin it for everyone. Is adult entertainment dirty? maybe, its not for me, but might work well for someone else. I am not a god, therefore I do not have the power to judge, convict, or say it's wrong. People of the world need to learn how to live and let live, if webcam porn isn't for you.. then don't watch it, it's really that simple. Its not just with webcam "evil do'ers" it's in all aspects of life. People need to learn to stay out of other peoples personal lives...it is their lives to do what they choose to do with it.... as the case may be in this article, if they don't like cloths and they like sharing... let them share... if you don't like looking.. don't look. It's the same thing I tell people when I bend over and my pants have dropped a little bit to expose my ass crack... and they say I didn't need to see that... I always tell them... thanks for looking at my cute ass, at least I know where your eyes were when I wasn't looking, but next time don't look if they didn't like what they saw... it's that plain and simple.

As long as my kids lived with me I had to know who they were bringing into my home in person or on the internet, simple as that. I was not overboard on it as long as they were "aware" of the dangers and were capable in age and maturity I rarely bothered them but I was able to enter their rooms with a knock at the door as I was able to see whom was on there computer in the same way. There is personal and theres personal. This argument made it clearer to them and we rarely had any problems when the rules were placed in this way.

It all comes down to parental duty which too many parents today ignore. It is the parents duty, from the time their child is born until that child is no longer part of the household, to protect the child from harm both physically and mentally.

Once the child leaves the household the parents role changes from duty to worry.
