Parental Control Software Problems
Austin “Snowy” Milner has asked a question that I… really don’t know how to answer, since I’ve never really dealt with parental control software. Seems that someone’s screwed up Internet Explorer:
My friend decided to screw around with my computer, by putting parental controls on my IE7 with a completely random password (button mashing on the keyboard). While IE7 is not my primary browser (w00t Firefox!), it’s still annoying every time I sign into Windows Live Messenger (formerly MSN messenger), I get the parental control popup asking me to sign in to view one of their advertisements, or view my mail. I tried to uninstall IE7 hoping that it would fix the problem, but unfortunitly it didn’t. I really don’t see the need to use Trillian, or another program like that, as I only use MSN and Xfire for my instant messengers. This is what happens every time I click the little MSN icon in the bottom right. If you could please help me out it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank goodness we haven’t ever had to deal with prenatal control software problems, yet.

If you have administrator access, some simple registry edits will work.
All you need to do is delete 2 keys:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Ratings]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
Ratings]
Delete those and you are fine.

I have a problem. YOu see, one night, I was trying to get on the internet, and it asked me for my username and password. Even after inserting said information, it wouldn’t let me on. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
