Paid Surveys
We weren't sure about that whole Paid Surveys thing, but another piece of feedback just trickled in from a Gnomie named Mark:
Yesterday I spent 5 hours researching this as I was sceptical. From what I could see there were people who felt that the $34 asked by most of these websites was not worth the money. One lady posted a website that she said was the main link from these “paid” portals. It was a FREE listing of companies seeking survey consumers. I joined this site which links to hundreds of corporations around the world who need survey feedback. Mostly they offer a chance drawing where you have a chance to win maybe $1000 or maybe $20. A sort of lottery incentive. Some offer cash, usually $2 to $5 to fill out surveys that may take 10 to 15 minutes. You CAN get paid to read emails, about 0.25 CENTS per email!
If you fit the exact profile of a certain survey, you may be asked to participate in a focus group,, that may pay $250 for an hour (or three…). Usually this only happens after you have established yourself as a reliable respondent, which takes several months. On top of that you will often be required to travel somewhere to participate in this focus group (Some are online but usually pay less), resulting in a net pay of much less. Also that $250 opportunity will probably only happen about twice or three times a year! Good luck!
I joined about 30 of these survey companies and so far have filled in one survey for toothpaste where I MIGHT win $50…We'll see if there's any further response… apparently once you're on their system they notify you when surveys come up which fit your profile… Hope this helps!
Well, maybe some are worth a shot?

Hmm still super-sceptical about this - would a winner please step up and vouch for/against the schemes/scams?

I agree with Steve. You have no way of knowing where and how the information will be used and you may be paying a heavy price in increased spyware, malware, spam, etc. for participating in these surveys. There is a site called “Gratis” that appears to be legit, but you have to recruit5 others to join before you get your freebies, so it could be a variation of pyramid schemes. Better for you to spend your time elsewhere on the web.

Caveat emptor - I signed up with surveyclub.com and have received nothing but very persistent 'MLM' recruitment offers - no surveys though.

NFO My Survey
GoZing Surveys
Survey Savvy
American Consumer Opinion
Opinion Outpost
ECN research
Lightspeed Research

Test Spin
NPD Online Research
Ipsos
Click IQ

I did about 25 surveys for Panda Research, and made $100.00, and they put it in your Paypal account, but it takes at least 45 days to pay you. What and Why is that?

I don’t know why. I got approved for a payout of 126.00 and have not been paid yet. It has been over 120 days!!I emailed 3 times. They responded the first time and said it takes at least 90 days!!I am beginning to wonder if panda research is a rip off.

In early 2006 I actually received a valid check in the mail from NPD Research. But I too am skeptical about most of the other surveys for $$$
