My SBC/Yahoo! DSL install went like a dream and my account was ready ahead of the scheduled date. And my connection has been strong and stable. But they do need to simplify and unbloat that install. Chris, DSL is a beast that need to be tamed. But, once it is going solid, it is fantastic! Just give it a bit of time. I've had DSL with them for about four years now. It took them three years to finally make my connection half way stable and even now it's like pulling eye teeth to get any real help from them.
