OS X vs Windows
http://live.pirillo.com/ – One of our YouTube subscribers wants to know what's better for photography: OS X or Windows.
In terms of what looks better: this may be a case of hardware comparison rather than comparing operating systems. If the PC has a better monitor than the Mac then you'll probably see the windows machine as having better graphics. Unless you're comparing similar hardware you're going to get different results – results you shouldn't blame on the operating system.
The good thing about hardware is that it's generally operating system neutral (assuming drivers are written for the system in question).
Does Windows really have more/better software than OS X? These days anything you can do on Windows you can do on a Mac. The old argument "Macs have no software" is really not a valid complaint today.
What do you guys think? Is photography better on a Mac than on a PC?

Depends on the mac. Don’t bother with any laptop mac for photo, they’re too slow and the screens are horrible. With the fastest stationary macs and good screens, things can be really good, if you can find a way to deal with osx:s profile management. Images are going to look different in different apps, i e safari, lightroom, photoshop, iphoto. To me, the only reason to use a mac for photo is that the mac will be up and running in situations where the pc has crashed or needs tinkering. Also, don’t bother with ilife/iphoto unless you have a 2mpix camera and can limit yourself to a library of 1000 photos.
I will be using a pc since I need a laptop with a good screen and the power to handle 1-2mb photos, and there is no such thing from apple. It doesn’t matter how stable it is if it can’t meet these requirements.

A related question. Can the MAC OS 10 run on any Intel based machine?
Or is the MAC still proprietary? (can only run on a Apple machine)

the professionals I know use the Adobe suite for image creating/changing…
which is available on both OS.
When it comes to true color, the MAC has always had color syncing between monitors, printers, and even between MACs. so the image looks as it’s intended where ever you see it…
and again the professionals i know have MACs even though the programmers use Windows. I think it’s not only the interface but the way images are true of color and how they can share image files and the image will look the same on each of there MACs.
with windows, images can look different from PC to PC
