I did this a month ago on a hard drive I had to reinstall after not using it since dial-up. My USB Road Runner connection on a Win98SE machine was around 768kbps, but with the RWIN tweak I got it pumped up to around 1800 mbps. I did this a few years ago on the hard drive I used to have in this machine, same result.

There is an RWIN tweak on the net, talked about at DSLreports. If your using Firefox, I recommend using the addon Adblock Plus, this will block any ads from loading on ur pages.

Use a faster browser, IE is slow, Opera or Firefox are just better at loading pages faster, also optimize the registry settings for faster load, there are plenty of programs out there that do this but Im gonna recommend my favorite, Tune-Up Utilities, it also has tons of other tools that will increases the overall Performance of your PC too, and tons of other stuff as well.
