Online Shopping Tips and Tricks

Today, I went shopping online to purchase the new Casio camera that is being touted as the “YouTube camera”. It encodes videos to the format used by YouTube, saving me a step or two in my recording process. I did a lot of research into finding the best price, and came across a website I wanted you to know about.
On ClayValet, you can submit up to five free requests per week. ClayValet is a personal shopping service. They can give advice, find you deals, and recommend the best products. Simply tell them what you’re looking for, and they’ll do the work for you.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: always do your research. Turn to the people in your circle, whether that is family and close friends, or on social networking sites. Always make sure you check things out before you buy them, and look for the best prices… or even coupons. Want to embed this video on your own site, blog, or forum? Be careful buying new/used items…
I think you need to add another concern to your list of buying tips. Watch out for Refurb merchandise sold as New. With all the “terms of sale” lawer speak by vendors, it’s easy to miss that you are being sold “Refurb” goods when you think you are a buying New product! Vendor rep and ratings helps…but doesn’t cover all situations.

Great tip I wish I would have known about clayvalet a month ago. I’ll be sure to check it out on my next big box purchase or electronics. I am a pretty good shopper myself though.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for recommending our site! Unfortunately, you initially called us “ClayValue”, and that’s not one of the spellings we’ve registered. We’re actually “ClayValet”. Could you please adjust that when you get a chance?

Make sure to watch the wording carefully on any auctioned items. (Ebay, amazon used, etc.). A lot of people will try to be a bit shady in their dealings… selling you, literally, n X-box…box, et all.
Also, on a lot of the software auctions, be sure to guarantee that when you buy the software, the necessary keys and codes are Included and New. Otherwise, you may end up paying for the CD and still have to buy the product to get the key. (Assuming all of us stay legal.)
One last thing is to actually read the terms and conditions, and the remedies available for faulty products. Reading these will ensure that you aren’t buying a product you can’t return if they don’t deliver exactly what was offered. It will also show you exactly where and how long it may take for dispute processes. I’d pay slightly more for a product to ensure that I can return it for a full refund or have it replaced if it is not exactly what was guaranteed.

Sweet Christ. Some people need to stick to expressing themselves in print. You should’ve stuck to the Lockergnome stuff instead of trying to get your name out there and become a “personality”. One word: annoying.
