One Year
“It's been - one year since I came to see - a little something different - living in the city.” How do I know? Because today there's this Gay Pride parade thing going on downtown. I drove through it (read: its aftermath) two days after arriving in SF last year. Now, I'm off to shop for a digital video camera under a thousand bucks. I hate to say it, but I may go “Sony.”

Go with the sony. I've tried lots of cameras, and Sony makes the best for you money. Unless you're planning on going professional DV, I'd say go with the sony. And by the way, congrats on the Bloggy(s)!

What's wrong with Sony?
I have 2 Sony camcorders, and they are both great.

I've owned two Sony video cameras and love 'em both. The only reason I got a second one is because the first one was 9 years old and I wanted to get a smaller one with more features. That's what I got, babe.

I'll play devil's advocate:
Sony, schmony. Get the Canon ZR-50. 22X zoom with image stabilization, and you should come out for way less than $1K
