Nintendo DS Owner
I must be one of dozens of Nintendo DS owners on the planet right now. I checked the Linkup Engine, and I'm feeling quite lonely. Of course, the lonliness is made more tolerable with a Nintendo DS in hand! The included Metroid Hunters demo is fun, but… controlling the character is somewhat clumsy on the touch screen (at least, with the configurations I've tried). I also picked up Super Mario DS, but haven't had a chance to play it yet. Any other Nintendo DS dudes or dudettes out there?! [More]

I managed to get one over the weekend–good stuff. I too feel a little loney, but it will pass when the next shipment comes in. I think it would feel less lonely if we could all use the 802.11 WiFi in the device to play games/use PictoChat over the internet, which I remember Nintendo saying was possible a while back but I see no evidence of it now.

Chris – Myself and Jake from the Seattle blogger meetup group both have purchased Nintendo DS and if I make December's meeting I'll be bringing mine. Then we can demo the wireless PicoChat too. I wish the DS had Internet browsing :( Alas, have to wait for the PSP for that or use my PocketPC.

Super Mario 64 DS is Great… the control is different from the original, since now you must use the Y Button to RUN. And All The Characters have different abilities to reach Certain Stars. There are over 150 Stars now.
The Graphics are better than the N64 too… all the stages have been overhauled!

About the DS and internet. It might become possible sometime in the future. If you check your DS manuals. It says the the GBA slot can be use for additionnal nintendo programs(even hardware in my opinion) so i believe it will be possible to use internet on DS eventually. Nintendo will most certanly not let this function exist only in the PSP.

Yes it is a pretty good chance that the DS is going to have wirelss but probably not over the GBA drive if you have an ethernet connection for a laptop or something you could have the ability to use the wifi as a bridge between the internet and the DS. :)

Hey I'm Rob from NY my friend mike and i were able to get a nintendo DS but it sucks like you said the limitations i've been searching all night i've found out that Xlinks is making an online chating service etc. and that online gaming will be made soon although the Xlinks have you buying wireless cards for both ur at home PC. and the DS its a start. also nintendo has hinted the release of a wireless chip by the beginning of the spring will all have to chat sometime. also you ca use the wrist band to use the touchscreen its easier thats why they added the thumb slot. i have Mario 64 DS it does Kickass later. I just got the DS and it seems to me, that it is much better than the PSP. But that's just my opinion. I found that playing Metroid Hunter Prime with the touch screen is quite useful. Aiming with the touch screen is almost like using a mouse. It just takes some time to get used to.

Ds is a good product, but PSP surpasses the DS in so many ways, the only reason on picked up the Ds over PSP is the price, plus I do like the dual screens and touch screen, it is pretty awesome. Yesterday I even downloaded a demo Metros from another DS throug WiFi. It was awesome, you were only able to play the demo, and once you turn the DS off it deletes the game, but it was awesome and it dwnloaded in seconds, overall you can't compare PSP 2 DS there features are to greatly macthed. I mean look at PSP it has numerous features ( PSP IS MY PICK) you can watch movies with the UMD! That is so awesome and it comes with Spiderman 2! Amazing Graphics, and take the DS it has the touch screen the 2 screens, double sloted, PDA like. Price wise DS is better, Overall PSP WINS!!!!!!!!!

I have created a DS “meetup” site. I am with everyone in the mission to find other DS owners; I only know 2 others besides myself. Its brand new but its free (unlike meetup.com) go here http://ds.gameinspire.com/main and register we need as many people as possible.

really when you compair the Nintendo DS with the Sony PSP its like your compairing Windows XP with Linux. Its just unatural. Your talking about compairing something thats been in development forever and using slightly dated technology compaired to a new mostly inovative system. The DS is lower rated then the PSP but that is because the PSP was designed with all known technology built into it. People are still exploring the posibilities of the DS. Just the other day i was playing Mario Kart DS and i discoved that in the Balloon Battle version of the game you are required to use the built in microphone on the DS. Aditionally the DS has reverse compadablity with the GBA games. Also all the little tricks with flash cards and other devices designed to fit into the GBA are still functional with the DS becaus it is actually 2 different systems in one case. Granite the PSP wins out right now with all its possibilities, but in the long run, i believe the DS will out do any handheld system on the market
