With the Shadows of Angmar storyline, the story is set somewhere between the time Frodo leaves the Shire and when The Fellowship convenes in Rivendell. Rather than controlling one of the nine main characters, you play a character with the ability to influence the direction of events, assisting the nine in their journey while having your own story.
