New Version of MSCONFIG

There's a new update for Windows XP (KB906569). It adds a new “Tools” tab to the far right of the utility, giving you easier access to:

  • %windir%system32\winver.exe
  • %windir%system32\cmd.exe
  • %windir%system32\Eventvwr.msc
  • %windir%system32\inetcpl.cpl
  • %windir%system32\cmd.exe /k %windir%system32\ipconfig.exe /all
  • %windir%system32\netsh.exe diag gui
  • %windir%system32\appwiz.cpl
  • %windir%regedit.exe
  • %windir%system32\wscui.cpl
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\msinfo32.exe
  • %windir%system32\sysdm.cpl
  • %windir%system32\restore\rstrui.exe
  • %windir%system32\taskmgr.exe

Might help a new power user, but it's not really giving us access to anything we didn't already have easy access to before. Worth grabbing, if only for grins. MSCONFIG is indispensable for watching your Startup group items (although it could be better at managing Windows services).
