My Words to Nanny

Our family was lucky, in that we were able to share our feelings with Nanny before she passed away on April 1st. Mom asked us if we wanted to write letters to her (which she would read aloud). I didn't want to make mine very long, and I certainly didn't want it to be a typical “good-bye” letter. I certainly used my humor, which Mom assures me was not lost on my grandmother – though she was in a state of complete suspension (borderline coma, not responding to any stimuli, still fully conscious). It was a very difficult letter to write, but those words will be resting safely on printed sheets, folded up next to her for the rest of eternity in her casket. I do plan on writing to Nanny after tomorrow's burial. Those words, in her memory, will be shared with the world.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Condoglianze.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Reading the obituary brought back memories of my own goodbye to my grandmother late last year.
My condolences to your and your family

Sorry for your loss. I read about your grandma in the link and I felt that she was a very active lady throughout her life. You have written:
“She was the kindergarten teacher for 12 years as well as the school secretary and treasurer, for All Saints Catholic Church, of which she was a member.”
If possible, please, write about this chapter of her life in details. I think it is an interesting part of American history too.

UGH! Does the whole world really need to know about your personal family issues. That is the problem today…everyone wants their problems and dirty laundry to be the world's problems. Lets stick to techie issues please.

My condolences on your loss, Chris, and my apologies for the insensitive douchebag above me there. The “personal” stuff is what keeps us from becoming automatons, and it pulls the internet in just a little bit closer.

Not sure if it's at all helpful, but here's what I wrote when my Oma, my last surviving grandparent, died almost five years ago.

I give my deepest and sincerest condolences to you for your loss. I know what it's like to lose a loved one. I feel for you during this most awful time. I know from experience that it never completely goes away, and that it does NOT get easier with each successive one. I also apologize for that insensitive douchebag. I feel that “personal” stuff makes you less like an automaton and more like a human on the “anonymous Internet”.
I want you, Chris, to check out my new blogs, Retro Fungi Radio (http://retrofungiradio.blogspot.com) and The Cranky Disney Shareholder (crankydisneyshareholder.blogspot.com) and also Muppetfandom, and I hope that it gets just a bit easier for you. I hope to meet you at the next Portable Media Expo or maybe on your wonderful online show.

I'm so sorry to read about your Grandmother's passing. Keep her memory alive in your heart.
I was very close with my grandmother and a day doesn't go by that I don't think of her.

Hi Chris

I know what your going through all too well,I could list all those I have lost, but it would make for a long post as, I have lost around 15 relatives and 4 or 5 friends since I was born. All I can say is, going through the morning process isn’t easy, but in time, your loss does become more manageable, which enables you to move on with your life. Of course there will be those moments when you wish your grandmother was there, and your heart my become a little heavy. However, there will also be those moments where you will say to yourself, Nanny would get a kick out of this and remember some funny thing she did or something she got a kick out off in the past.

As to the guy who says you should stick to tech stuff, I think he is full of it. I always felt the humor you brought to your TV show and that you bring to you web-stream make it less dry and more fun. By the way, one of my favorite clips is the two different clips of you on call for help and having laughing attacks. Maybe they are the same video but one has been edited?

Take Care
