My Summer Vacation
We had quite a few adventures on the water this week, but it's good to be home again. I'd probably do another cruise at some point in the future, although I'd probably pick different destinations. Perhaps an Alaskan one? Royal Carribean treated us very well, but I'd be interested in investigating other lines before deciding. The highlight of the trip was probably when I climbed one of those rock walls. No big deal for the average person, but for someone who isn't too fond of heights, it was a fear overcome. I'm more of an arachnophobe than an acrophobe, but that didn't make it any less nerve-wracking. I was ready to turn around after being only three feet off the ground. The only thing that got me up the wall was adrenalin – I didn't even trust the harness.

I went Royal Carribian it was very nice. I went on the “Explorer of the Seas” Which is supposedly their newest boat.
I have to say Royal Carriabian is the best out of the two major competitors. Carnival is just that a Carnival to get on the boat and everywhere you go.

I've done Monarch of the Seas before, but I think I have to say that Disney Cruise Lines so far as been my favorite — by far. I know it sounds like a cheesy ride (and there are a lot of kids), but it has some wonderful adult orientation as well — clubs at night, great family activities if you need them, first run movies, better sized rooms and excellent service.

Good job with the wall! I love those things, but haven't been on one in years. The last time I was, my spotter person let me free fall about 20 feets before doing absolutely anything. I wasn't too pleased with her.

Perhaps you'll overcome the arachnophobia by trying to become a star in the third installment of Spider-Man. Looks like you're well on your way…

For your Alaska cruse use the Holland American line. They use medium size ships and just are great.

Good job Chris! I could never have done the climb. I'm afraid to get on a 4 foot ladder.

Cruises are great, been on 15. Lately Princess has been my favorite, though 8 were on RCI. Try the “Experience SCUBA”, it only gets you in about 20' of water, buts it's a nice introduction.

Royal Caribbean is a premium line, so stick with it or Holland America or Princess for the same great treatment. Princess has some excellent 2 for 1 sales over the last year or so, but you have to be a Captain’s Table member, which means you have to have sailed with them before. If you can afford airfare, Europe and the Mediterranean are very hot destinations and inexpensive right now, and an Alaskan cruise in early summer season on either of these 3 cruise lines is awesome, especially if you compliment a cruise with a 4 to 7 day land tour.
