More Addictive than YouTube: Blabberize

This one’s gonna get snapped up quickly, I’m sure (and hopefully by someone who can further develop a frontend for such an addictive experience). Someone sent me a link to Blabberize a few hours ago. Within minutes, I was fiddling around with a few images that were getting tossed about in our live broadcast.

Trust me. This site is going to be very popular. Very soon.

Be forewarned, a few of my first blabbers fully illustrate my wacky (edgy, risque) sense of humor – so if you’re offended easily, please don’t hit the pink Play buttons. You might also want to turn down your sound as there’s no volume control on the player, and the only way to get audio to pick up is by bringing the mic up to a higher level.

This first one is definitely family friendly:

This next one is a bit… off-color:

The Darth Vader one was just for fun, and the Lolcatz was thrown in for good viral measure.

email a link to the Blabberize hosted page or embed the result. Blabberize was developed based on a demonstration at Yahoo’s Open Hack Day event in September. With sincerest apologies to Nick Douglas, the following Blabberize was put together byChris Pirillo, who I have to thank for the tip (please note: there is language that some readers may not like in the clip). There are a wealth of other examples as well on their website, which for me at least had me in stiches. I

I saw this at the SF NewTech meetup this summer. If you think the software is funny, you should listen to the founder do a presentation. He was by far the funniest geek presenter I have ever seen.

Chris! I saw your name come up on our site “L0ckerGn0me” and I was like “pffssh no way it’s the really Chris playing on the site”. And then all of a sudden I hear your voice and I was like… zomg. Couple hours later, our site is blasted with traffic and crawling. We got techcrunched thanks to you as well!. Thankyou for being so kind as to putting up youtube videos of your blabber so people arn’t missing out completely! *laugh* You’re the best!

reminds me of the monkey from monsterjobs or hot jobs that you can get to speak a message which you type and will repeat long messages. i saw some hilarious ones. but this one is better in that you can speak into a mic..

i wonder who would buy it. seems like a bit of a novelty and could probably be built in house if someone really wanted it.

As I noted on the TechCrunch site, the voice-over on Jack Ruby being shot is simply not funny. I’m sure I sound too “heavy” but that is a time I lived through and it ain’t no joke. It’s as if someone took Martin Luther King’s shooter and did a voice-over on him… Funny technology, lots of application but just pick a better subject…
