As of 1:51PM this afternoon, I became the proud father of a Nokia 3650. With polyphonic ringtones, Bluetooth, and a built-in camera, I'll always be ready for the road. Beaming pictures to my Tungsten C is a breeze (via infrared), but Jake went on a wild goose chase for a script to enable me to immediately post wacky snaps to an MT blog via e-mail. We'll see what turns up. So far, I like what I see. I'll have to dive into the manual sooner or later to find out how to transfer MIDI and change my “start screen” graphic. Tomorrow, I may even pick up a few Bluetooth devices just to see what THAT world is like. Here's a thought: would you pay me a $1 a month to be on a private distribution list that gets nothing but pictures from my daily misadventures? Who knows WHO or what I'll run into.
GoToAssist lets you provide support to your friends or customers even when they aren't at home. By using the unattended support feature, you can fix their software issues, install their updates, or nearly anything else you would normally do on-site.

$1 a month for pictures? Will there be female nudity? I can get a lot of goofy pictures on the web, why would I pay for a Gnome? Now Gretchen! Pictures of her shopping for Oreos would be GREAT!

I am so jealous of you. Damn you Chris Pirillo! I could really use that phone. I saw 7 hookers on the way home today. That would make for some interesting pics.

That phone looks girly. It fits your lifestyle. :) It looks like a Cingular service phone. Check the Nokia PC Suite software. You should be able to do the ringtones with that.

That's an awesome phone! I heard that William Shatner has one too. He even recorded his voice as his ringtone. How come the digits are design in a circle? It might be a pain to hunt and peck for letters if you are sending text messages. As for the $1 a month for pictures, I'd go for it if you have gretchen in it stuffing her face with Oreos. ;)

I would pay $1 a month. Just don't take the phone into the bathroom or shower with you. Unless of course Gretchen is in there too.

If you charge for it, it is no longer considered a blog. Now its a webzine.

1. Transferring MIDI files |
Either connect via IrDA or Bluetooth (the latter preferably). Now use the Nokia software (or bluetooth software) to transfer the MIDI files to the phone (using bluetooth, right click the file and select “send to bluetooth” (your phone or any other device within range). The file will be in your inbox. Go to your profiles and edit any of them. When selecting a new tune the MIDI file should be listed.
2. Start screen graphic |
Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Standby Mode -> Background image
There ya go!
Got questions? Just send an e-mail. Fun device to own!

I love my Nokia 3650 but the data plans are what get ya. I hear that ATT&T might have an all you can eat plan for 25.00 a month….that would rock.
I think it would be fun to be able to swap pics with people(clean stuff)
from daily adventures….email me if that sounds like fun.

Can someone let me know if they find a good leather case for the 3650? I have been looking everywhere and have yet to find a single one.

Hehe I can't believe all these online money making schemes (read schemes not scams!) allow you to buy all these neato toys. I bet you could sell your dirty sox for a few bucks!

What does the 3650 cost in the States? Here in Germany I paid €49 when I renewed my service with e-plus (€15/month).

I picked one up from AT&T for 150.00 after rebate on an existing account. I was kinda bummed that I couldn't use an SD card with it but MMC cards are so cheap that it's not a problem.

I looked at this but plumped for an SPV instead – OK so the camera ain't integrated, and Bluetooth support isn't built in (but is coming) – can YOU use MSN Messenger on your phone? ;-)

I recently bought a Sidekick and I'm happy with it (maybe I'm just easily pleased) the one year of free unlimited internet access makes me happy too :) I've read on the hiptop forums that some people are a bit unhappy with theirs but I think that's just early adopter syndrome kicking in – you know, wanting to speak up (a lot) to get the developers building..
man do I ramble..

I would pay the $1 a month to see pics you've snaped on the road or where ever. I wouldn't do your $20+ a question though!

I too just bought a Tungsten C and am getting a Bluetooth equipped cellphone ASAP. While the WiFi in the Tungsten C works great, I hope you realize (and I think you do, if you're using IR to transfer images rather than Bluetooth) that the Palm Bluetooth card will not work in the Tungsten C currently as their are no compatible drivers, at least according to Palm, Inc., whose rep refused to speculate (via email to me) on when this would be rectified. Don't see any third-party Bluetooth solutions either.
So, Mr. Tech Insider (or anyone else reading this), do you know of anyone cooking up these drivers on the sly, or a third-party SD/MMC Bluetooth card that works in a Tungsten C? Barring that, can you make a more influential request for this than I, a nobody who just dropped $500 on Palm for the PDA?

Cat lost another phone. The girl should buy a five-pack.
I would spend a buck but no pants Friday scares me.

The 3650 rocks. Too bad Rogers in Toronto doesn't provide it yet. As soon as it does, it's replacing my venerable 8390.
