Microsoft Internet Exploiter
It seems as though something in the latest round of Windows Updates has caused the IE6 small GIF bug to resurface. It's frustrating, to say the least – and it best be fixed within SP2. I'm about five minutes away from downloading and installing the latest RC, just to see if I can get back to my regular surfing habits. Productivity grinds to a halt every time you have to right-click a non-rendered image just to get it to show up inside your browser window. Or should I abandon all hope and move to Mozilla?

No, not Mozilla… Mozilla Firefox. But both of them are better than IE, anyway.

We switched to FireFox at work a couple of weeks ago to try to avoid some of the spyware/adware nonsense.
I've enjoyed it enough to go ahead and switch over to FireFox on my home PC also.
I like the tabbed browsers a lot….

I agree, switch to Mozilla Firefox. I did so about 4 months ago and have not looked back since. Any sites that don't work correctly in Firefox (require IE), I stop using.

I left IE years out of frustration with the kludge fest it is. Then I moved to Linux (Xandros now) and never looked at Windows again. If you are going to stay with Bill's lame products at least run something decent like Firefox or Mozilla. The new Opera looks great too. Dump IE, you will be happier.

I'm stunned you haven't switched to Firefox yet, it is a truly amazing piece of software. I'd be lost without my tabbed browsing and popup/ad blocking

Firefox! I use it both on Windows and Linux. It's fast, and it rocks. If you haven't tried it, you really should!

I love firefox but unfortunately I just can't use it for a number of things that involve my job (friggin activex ~_~). I find myself constant switching between firefox to check websites and IE to check my e-mail (lotus ~_~) or work wth files remotely.

Do it, if you're any kind of self-respecting geek. Just realize that all those cool, fancy things like embedded fonts WON'T be visible in Firefox.

I would suggest Firefox or Opera over IE. Sadly Microsoft has let IE fall so far behind I can't see a way that they will ever be able to recover as by the time Longhorn ships (~2 years from now) I think pretty much everyone will be using Firefox. Even my mother uses Firefox now after seeing it in a computer programme on TV the other month. She liked the idea of tabbed browsing as she hates all the windows at the bottom.
Come on Bill, sort it out!

There's just no reason to.

I think I am in love with Firefox… thanks for the suggestion guys! The RSS feed reader in the sidebar alone is worth it. Especially since you can drag and drop the RSS links over there!

If you do move to Firefox, be warned that if you start using tabbed browsing, you will never be able to return to IE. Plus, why even mess with a an app that is and entry way for bad things.

Without a doubt, I'd say you should move to Mozilla Firefox.

It'd be a good idea anyway. Remember IE 6 is the last stand-alone verison of IE. You want the next version release (IE 7)? You MUST buy Longhorn, as it will be integrated (again!) in to the OS.

Or….you could use MyIE2. It's IE…with an Opera interface. I don't know if you'll get those kinda bugs that IE has, but it's got everything I want in a browser. Customisability, tabbed browsing, mouse gestures…the works. And…you can still see embedded fonts…:)

Hi Chris …… You know more than I do about computers; hardware and software inclusive. In return for all the help you have given to all your unknown beneficiaries, I am glad to offer this GOOD advice.. Firefox!!

Even without the GIF issue, you should have a try at Firefox. Firefox is just that much more better. Its faster and way more features. Give it a go!

I hope by now you have made the switch to FireFox. There is simply no comparison between IE and FF or Moz. Tabbed browsing rocks! Popups, not on FireFox and Moz.
Take back the Web!

What a broweser issue. IE is the most commonly used so poor bill gates is targetted and any hacker will spend more time ripping into this browser than any other. Competition is great but IE is the best; tried all the others and no-one can compete due to people and money.
