The iPhone Rant ~ The Chris Pirillo Show

t buy an iPhone on day 1. I agree with several of his points. This video is about 20 minutes long - I found it very easy to watch the whole thing, despite the fact that Chris gets a little agitated at times during the video. The iPhone Rant ~ The Chris Pirillo Show

“ sells ***.” - Chris Pirillo / The iPhone Rant

Chris Pirillo buys an iPhone, loves it, and rants about his errant ways and logical fallacies. We’ve got some pretty obvious ideas too, like someday iPhone will probably support Java– maybe. More likely than the Pirillo scenario anyway.

Correction: Chris is TOO excited about the iphone. It’s just tech. :)

Wooooot urge

Wait, we’re being told that an iPhone is a silly purchase…from a guy with 2 30 inch monitors and a small dog on his lap?

Paris Hilton much?

Most. Annoying. Twerp. Ever.

Hey Chris,
Now I see why you responded as you did (:

I probably will wait till iphone 2.0 I have to admit. BTW though, looks like GeekBrief didn’t quite turn out like you thought…and the original upset wasn’t about the iphone, but it was about AT&T reps.

Cheers,
Leif

can you just stop being so whiney, i was trying to listen to why you don’t like the iphone, but i couldn’t over your nagging. also, some people will take trade offs of features and benefits for other features and benefits. perfect example, i got rid of ****** a2dp support on windows for nice ipod/phone integration. simple.

i hope you don’t pretend to have any journalistic integrity. your whining is just as crazy as some stupid fanboy who smokes off the apple peace pipe.

and i have dropped my iphone a couple times already, not a single scratch.

THANK YOU CHRIS!

I knew there had to be a voice of reason out there who saw that a phone with 4GB - 8GB of storage that had no video capabilities was flawed. I’ll be waiting for iPhone 3.0.

I’m with you Chris.
To the guy that made the crack about Chris’s dog.
I think you’re just jealous cause you don’t have a dog that sits on your lap.

My take on this whole hype, is that in six months some other company will have produced the same product for a third of the price, and much better quality.
I can wait.

Like Woody Allen on steroids.

Are any of you listening to what Chris is saying? He is validating most of his points with facts. Chris has MANY years of tech experience in both media and the internet. He has earned some rights to his opinion.

Chris is plainly wrong. #3, 8 and 17 are the only semi-valid objections. The vast majority of people who buy v1 will be delighted. If you are considering purchasing one, do it (if you can find one).

Chris, while your whining, overemotional response to a product you’ve NEVER even touched or seen in person is extremely annoying, you make one or two valid points. iPhone isn’t perfect, but for all your bitterness over no one giving you a free one, it’s a huge step forward in making convergence seem like a good idea again.

You have little integrity in my mind with a rant like this in which you spend so much time belittling a device but in the same breath say you’d take one if someone gave you one for ad space. If the device is so lousy, why bother?

I think I have you figured out, though. Your old TechTV connection to John C Dvorak suggests you’ve learned his self-admitted trick of bashing Apple products for the sole purpose of getting the fanbois to come visit your site to reply and drive up the hit count. Clever, albeit cynical.

To P Tyson, c’mon, none of that was fact, all opinion, nothing else. Have you even touched one of these things? Head down to your Apple Store and play with a demo for a half hour before you judge the device.

[...] On every tech news outlet, iPhone stories were numerous and dominated the “internet” waves for the entire week of June 29th. Many of my tech colleagues were sickened by this enthusiasm and dubbed it “overblown hype”. Truth? Maybe. Once the iPhone hit the streets, the tech news surrounding it nearly doubled. There were literally thousands of reviews and first impressions on the web in record time. The social photography web site flickr.com had thousands of photos tagged “iphone”. Technical blogs and podcasts seemingly talked only about the iPhone, it’s ins and outs, it’s shortcomings, and it’s surprises. So why am I writing this article now? Well, it’s been over a week, and the “honeymoon period” is over. I’ve had some time to use this device in my everyday life and I will now share with you my experiences. [...]

BillP,

Hahaha, repped you if I could!

Convergence is the reason I would get the iPhone, if I could get it. The features appeal to me and it looks easy enough to use out of the box.
