i can suggest you a player that can play almost any type of video format including real and flash .This player is the KMplayer .I am currently using this player & till now i have only found two video format not supported by it ,rest of videos were supported by it.Hope you will also loveit..

I’d love if you could do a bit of a follow-up on this topic for me!

I recently ditched my cable TV for my DVD collection and for the awesome content (including your show) on Miro. I’ve ripped many TV show series from DVD to AVI for quick access. I was wondering whether you were aware of any media manager software that could keep track of the last time I viewed a file. This would help me in my quest to watch all the Simpsons episodes sequentially (not in one sitting, mind you).

I use WinXP SP2 and would prefer a freeware or FOSS solution.

Instead of a media manager I suppose I could just use Windows Explorer since NTFS logs the last access time of files. However, I don’t know how to show the “Date Accessed” column on many hierarchical subdirectories automatically and I add new directories every time I rip a DVD. Do you know how I can apply folder view options to a subset of directories without forcing the view on all folders?

You might also try ALShow. It’s like VLC in that it has codecs built in but if by chance it encounters a file it can’t play it takes you to an interface where you can access codec downloads.

VLC will not play Real media files. if you ever find a player that will play everything including Real, then please publish the info – i’ve been looking for something that will do that (currently, winamp, with a bunch of plugins comes closest).

I’m going to try this when I get off work. I’ve been looking for a program to stream all of my movies (.avi’s, .mpg4, etc.) along with my iTunes music (ripped from my cd’s not downloaded) in AAC format to my PS3. So far nothing has worked.

I’ve tried Nero Media Home, Twonkyvision, TVersity, among others. None have been able to do it all. And while some claim to be able to support iTunes formatted music files none have been able to do so. Even though I can see them in my PS3 as ‘AAC’. When I try to play them… it pauses a few seconds before telling me it’s unsupported data.
