Long Overdue

Pimp-Daddy Ken sold separately. “Now here's a Barbie all of us can enjoy – the Raging Hormones Menopausal Prozac Barbie. Off to update my Amazon wishlist…” You have a wishlist, Christine? I didn't know that. Maybe you need to make a long-ass vertical banner on your site so that people can see it. Or, have Hoopty make a browser for it.

I'm Just a Bill…” Another SchoolHouse Rock fan? People are always surprised when they see me listening to them on my Pocket PC. I'm good buddies with Lucky Seven, Mr. Morton, Pearl, Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla, Albert Andreas Armadilla, Rafaela Gabriella Armadilla, Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, and Interplanet Janet.

Gnome Goodies. “Dang, the Gnome package arrived fast. I ordered it on Friday and it arrived yesterday (Wednesday). Chris – stop advertising specials, I've no willpower! How cool is this? Why couldn't…” Well, thank you kindly, Meryl. I think I already posted a link to your entry, but while I was blogrolling this morning, I thought I'd say 'thank you' again.

Made to order: Three new books show the dumbing down of robot mind. “When most people think of robots, they envision walking, talking mechanical humanoids along the lines of The Jetsons' domestic Rosey the Robot, Futurama's grouchy Bender, or Lost in Space's B-9, frantically waving its mechanical arms at impending danger.” I didn't realize that robot even had a name?

Cool things to do with Images. “Got a digital camera? Check out this new company (Imdivisual) that lets you do cool things with your images.” Very cool, Robert!

'Star Wars' clones appear on Net. “Copies of the next “Star Wars” movie are circulating online before its theatrical release, marking the latest setback to the studios' fight to protect entertainment from Net piracy.” I almost forgot that starts this week. We haven't even seen Spider-Man yet.

Whatever Happened to DOS?. “For almost a dozen years, we have heard the steady sound of a bell tolling. A stable, reliable operating system used by millions of people was going to disappear. It would die an ignominious death due to lack of support, limited popularity and the absence of compatible products.”

A Blog Magazine? “This is actually an old idea. I posted it on here when I still used Blogger, but I can't find…” I was listening to Gretchen watching 'Bridget Jones's Diary' last night, and I thought to myself: “That movie sounds an awful lot like a blog.”

NEW – SpamKiller launched. “McAfee.com Corp yesterday unveiled the latest in its lineup of managed security application services, SpamKiller.” Great. So will this stop the spam that McAfee keeps sending me?!

“Software, done properly, is more like gardening than it is like warfare. Plant a seed, nurture it, show other people how to plant seeds, encourage them to plant them in your ground, always be thankful, and split the profits.”

Indiana Jones and the Emperor´s Tomb [New Game]. “Indiana Jones and the Emperor´s Tomb section with shots.” Yeah, but when are they releasing the new movie? I've been waiting for over ten years, dude. Mesa needs some Indy action muy-muy!

Linux Multimedia. “Sander gives tips on how to play CDs, MP3s, MPEGs and DVDs on Linux.” I don't have Linux yet, but I'm considering converting this box into a Penguin machine.

Rename 'The Two Towers' to Something Less Offensive Petition. Right. Just like they should go back and take out all the WTC references in every movie or book ever made. I understand the sensitivity of the situation, but “the JRR Tolkien book originally published in 1954, the second book of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The title was thus established some 47 years prior to the attacks on the World Trade Center towers.”

Sony loosens leash on robot dog. Which doesn't make the Memory Stick suck any less.

Google Searchtool v1.5.4 [1.0M] W9x/2k/XP FREE. In a nutshell, this thing utilizes the Google search engine. So, you can either open up Google's Web site and search from there, or, if you don't want to have a browser open first, you can search with this companion tool. Hey, Google is popular for a reason. I always find what I need right away when I go a-googling. Change its transparency (in Windows 2000 / XP). If you don't understand English, change the resulting language options. And you know how you can search for images on the Web through Google? You can do that through this search tool, too. Same goes for those wonderful Usenet groups. Its handy – and not incredibly garish (like I've found the official Google toolbar to be). Gosh, how did we ever get along without this search engine? I must use it at least ten times a day (and now, this interface will save even more of my time and sanity).

Want a whopping 170GB hard drive?. I had to settle for a WD 120. I also got a WD 80 gigger, too. We'll see how well they work. Jeez, I remember when 400 megabytes was a lot.

And in other news, Cheyenne will be out here in a week or so. She's arriving right when Gretchen's grandparents are leaving. Perhaps we'll have to do a Bay Gnomies get together around then, eh? Like, all of us venture over to the Flower Market Cafe and get us some juicy prawns?
See, I do read a lot of stuff on the Web – I just don't have a lot of time to post it. When someone comes up with a way to blog with my mind, I'll be the first to sign up. Cybernetic blogging? That's worth thinking about.

about the linux thing…
i'm sure you already know this anyway, but you can have both windows AND linux on the same computer by partitioning your hard drive. a great program for that is PartitionMagic, but that'll cost you some money… The SuSe version of linux can do it during the installation process also
just thought i would “two cents” this entry

If it's vertical, I can make it!

Psssst…I'm Robyn. blogblogbaby.com entries are by Robyn — blahblahblog.com ones are by Christine. And my wishlist is kinda hidden on my “about me” page linked in the sidebar, but just about anything from Tiffany will suffice to make up for your name-game error here. ;-)

Go see Spider-Man
And beware of hard drives over 137GB as there are BIOS limitations set right at 137GB for now I think.
I bought the 100GB 8MB cache Western Digital. I think you'll like the 120GB version. :)
Oh, and go see Spider-Man ;)

About the DOS dying. Wasn't the MS-DOS in dos for microsoft? That article states how a auto shop guy uses dos to run his programs all without microsoft. Were there versions of dos that weren't made by msoft?
hmmph.

Steve: Yes, Microsoft bought the rights to DOS (Disk Operating System), and brought MS-DOS to market, but other versions do exist. I'm not having an easy time remembering my computer history, but I believe one version was PC-DOS

On the other hand, my wishlist is linked right there in my sidebar on every skin available on my site. :) I will happily take anything from Tiffany's too though… “I'm just a bill, yes I'm only a bill, and I'm sitting here on Capital Hill…” (I love Schoolhouse Rock, and the DVD collection is on my wishlist. It will be released a month before my birthday!)

Seattle Computer Q-DOS and 86-DOS
IBM = PC-DOS
MS = MS-DOS

Yep, McAfee now owns SpamKiller– and oddly enough, a 4/27/2002 automatic filters update included a global 'mcafee.com' “Accept” filter. Hmmm…

Re: The attack of the clones thing. Isn't that what Mr. Lucas gets for shooting it all in digital? Straight off the cameras and into someone's hard drive… ;-)

I loved IBM DOS!!!

What Do You Think?
