All the same problems ...the crappy wheels in the middle !!! And old PS2 10.00$ mouse and keypad always the best and save you on major crash PC !!! :)

This is the best keyboard I've ever used:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823102003

Yeah, Enermax...they make power supplies and crap. But trust me: this thing is amazing. Standard US layout. No ridiculous F-lock key. No software to install. Lovely laptop-style keys.

I'm never going back to Logitech or Microsoft or Apple. Apple has the style and simplicity down but the keys are no good.

Chris, I find your complaint to be consistent with my experience with Logitech products since the Windows 95 days: nicely designed hardware, poorly designed software. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link so I've ended up returning every Logitech product I've ever bought in over 10 years.

My girlfriend recently got a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and, after getting used to the unwieldy split-keyboard design, she adores it. I recommended it to her having thoroughly enjoyed my first generation MS Natural Keyboard for over 5 years. MS is renowned for their great hardware (the latest generation of mice notwithstanding) and quiet-as-a-mouse resident drivers.

If you can find it at store with a good return policy, give it a try for a week or so. I bet you'll like it - as long as you have proper touch-typing habits.

If you ever remember those nice slim but deep-keyed Dell USB keyboards and like them they make the Enhanced USB Multimedia keyboard, with multimedia keys and a real solid volume control knob I just love. Bought one new at pacificgeeks months ago, love it.

If you want wireless, Dell makes a wireless version that is identical, just search their site.

I have a Logitech di NOvo with media pad. The packaged software sucks but on a re-install after some recent computer issues, I downloaded the newest software from their Web site and it works flawlessly. I use my keyboard from my recliner chair as I have a 60" HDTV I use for the monitor. This thing never has signal issues like I've had with other wireless key board/mouse combos. Also, I had some major software issues a couple of months after purchasing the Logitech and they could not resolve it so the tech guy got pissed off and sent me a whole new set and I kept the old set. I now use the mouse from the old set as well as the mouse from the new set, so I always have a charged mouse handy.

Hey Chris,

Just seen this post about how you like flat keybords.

Have you ever seen this: http://www.typematrix.com/

Its a square, flat keyboard, in us layout. I use it and its supurb.

During my work placement of my IT degree, I had to do a lot of coding. They keyboard / setup they provided was driving me mental, pains were going up my wrists and arms, the lot.

I started to bring it in, and all the pain went away. Definatly recomended espically for people like geeks who have small soft hands :D

Probably user error or something very unique to your system. I and a bunch of my colleagues have all used this keyboard on both XP and Vista without problem.

On Windows Vista, we didn't even use the Logitech drivers. It just worked out of the box. Maybe you should upgrade? Oh wait...

FIRST! ;)

I agree with you 100%. I love logitech's products, but their software is just horrendous! I had been having hiccups on my G7 mouse (which I've found out, through an all-night forum crawl, is normal and unfixable). So I switched to the corded G5 and after a couple months of use, hiccups.

I've heard it's got something to do with SetPoint, but disabling it fixes it temporarily.

I love logitech, but I won't buy another product for a long long time.

Wow. I have a Logitech diNovo (but not the edge) - works like a dream for me. I have have Logitiech issues with drivers in the past though, but usually all cleared up with a search on google.

Though, it should never happen in the first place, of course ;)
