Introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. I have been involved with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) for 6 years now as a judge and a referee at Firs Robotics and First Lego League competitions. FIRST is an organization founded by inventor Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers in 1989 in order to develop ways to inspire students in engineering and technology fields. The organization is the foundation for the FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST LEGO League, Junior FIRST Lego League, and FIRST Tech Challenge competitions.
