Ponzi got me the coolest thing for Christmas! They’re the perfect compliment for my Tix Clocks, and really make my office fun to be in… and hopefully fun for you all to look at, as well.
The Cyron HT 1502 Media Highlighter System is a full color spectrum solid-state lighting system. Ideal for accent lighting and ambient lighting for confined areas. Produce any color of light at a push of a button. Six pre-programmed patterns and a music mode. Safe low-voltage, no heat, enery efficient and 50,000-hour life.
I decided to put these on the top of my desk hutch. They use hardly any energy, and don’t put off much heat. They change colors, and put out a heck of a lot of light. These things are way cool looking, aren’t they? If you come by the chat room and type in what is glow, you’ll get the link to this product.
Thanks so much to Ponzi, for always knowing exactly what I want… even if I don’t know it myself.

Those are pretty cool, VERY bright, and the price isn’t too bad. Btw, u do hardly notice when you have them on in the day, so IMO it is a waste of “time” the LEDs have, but since they seem that they will last 5 years, you would probably find something else that glows better (as you like stuff that glows ;) by then! lol

I think that Geeks are hereditary attracted to colourful dancing lights.
Come to think of it, any colour would do. You could probably use colourful lights at night to turn Geeks into lemmings, and lead them, like The Pied Piper of Hamelin, off a cliff!! Oh sorry, the Piper didn’t do that but if the Pied Piper wanted to take Geeks away from society all he need would be a Yamaha TENORI-ON and some flashy colourful LEDs!

Nice lights! I also have a thing for glowing lights, or anything that lights up.
I just purchased (boxing day sale) a Logitech G15 version 2 keyboard with the fancy glowy backlit keys as well as a backlit lcd display and its so awsome.
Glowing stuff makes a better ambiance around the room =)

Very awesome Chris, I would have mounted them on the front of the desk or under the desk on the side that faces the camera, you know to cast a glow on the floor or on the front of the desk, kind of like a low rider with lights under it? Pimp my desk style.lol

As was a general comment of good tidings in the Firefly/Serenity universe, “Shiney!”
Incidentally, LEDs emit more light w/ a lower energy cost. The catch being the odd voltage/ampreage required to operate them.

Hey chris, dont worry, you arent the only Geek who loves Glowing thinkg, i do to. I have been doing some searches on some glowing items and i have found that they are hard to find. Mabey some day i will purchase some. I think the battery life is awesome and prob. one of the best purchases u’ve made

Awesome idea Chris. I don’t think my walls would be quite bright enough to take advantage of the amount of light that these LED strips can put out. It’s too bad really as that would look great in my home office as well.

Hey Chris –
Speaking of LED lights, I found some cool ones at my local Costco for under my desk hutch. They are shaped just like a puck, and have 5 LED’s in them.
You can mount them anywhere – under a hutch, in a cabinet, in a closet- and they add lots of light wherever you need them. You can swivel them 30 degrees to the left or right, so you can point the light wherever you need it. They also have an ambient light sensor, so you can put them in a closet and have them automatically come on when you open the door.
I think it’s a cool product with many uses. Then run on just 3 AAA batteries each. You can find them here: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/store3-store_1983_43952095
