Oh well, for some of us money is not an issue =) Why must someone allways point out when someone over paid? Is it fun for you?

Chris, I have the 712n as well and after having it for about 4 months now I'm convinced my eyes suck. This monitor is great for gaming and graphics but I'm really bummed using it for text and such. Still can read the old 19" CRT much better. As for the poor soul that purchased the Dell 2001FP LCD for $809 I saw over at Bargain Blog that it was just on sale for $609.20 shipped on Tuesday!!

Blow us over with your 17" Chris! I had no idea you were so large. In all seriousness though.. shouldn't the self proclaimed geek's geek stock his office with some better stuff? One thing your recent home videos have been showing is how un-geektafied your "office" is. Stop spending your chest money on peets and invest in something that is technologically cool.

I just bought the Dell 2001FP LCD, this is a nice 20" 16ms Responce time 500:1 contrast ratio display.. It runs naticly at 1600x1200 and looks awesome.. I've played a few games with it and seen nothing but good here =) I agree with you on this one Chris.. LCD is the way to go, just wish I would have done it sooner.

(FYI: they are $899 at dell, I get an educational discount and got it for $809)

I have the Samsung 191T. Nice monitor, but I don't think it has the bullet response time like yours. That said, I play Far Cry at 1280x1024 and it looks and plays fine.
When booting in XP Pro., I detect "screen lag" on the LCD, as compared to my old CRT. By lag, I mean there is a blank screen on the LCD where the CRT was already displaying boot-up info. Anyone else notice this?
Another irritating issue about LCD monitors, and rightly called the 'dirty little secret,' is about dead pixels. I had two on my brand new $600 monitor. Most places won't replace something like this unless you have 5-8 dead pixels. The exact number depends on where you buy and their return policy. RESEARCH this carefully _before_ you buy. It's not a big deal for some, and it is possible to learn to live with it, but it drives other people crazy. I wish there was some kind of legislation passed where a manufacturer would be required to label the number of dead pixels on the box, for the consumer to see before purchasing. Who wants to pay hundreds of dollars and have an obvious defect on your new toy? I'd even pay extra if I was guaranteed a defect free monitor. If you do obtain an LCD with zero dead pixels, consider yourself fortunate and happy.
