No, I’m not making the excuse that I can’t control myself because of food additives. But, it is a fact that MSG is a chemical compound that reacts with our human chemistry to enhance flavor and has been associated with addictive qualities. Plenty of studies have been done showing people eat more food when it contains MSG. Food manufacturers use this because it gives them more bang for the buck in production costs, it’s a “filler” it fills out the food and stretches the seasoning powder. But it has no nutritional value. But, probably as an afterthought they discovered the addictive side and it became even better score for them to use MSG.

Even if you go to Lay’s website you will see that ALL the products listed that DO NOT contain MSG also have a disclaimer noting that those products are processed on the same machinery that utilizes products the DO use MSG. Therefore, despite cleaning the machinery between processes, there is still trace amounts of MSG that can be found in the products that are labeled as “NO MSG”. Either way, there is a very good chance that you are getting a Lay’s product that contains (even trace amounts) of MSG. MSG is a toxic chemical and can cause many adverse health effects. It’s an absolute joke that companies such as Frito Lay use MSG in their products. Educate yourself people.

helen mullins I found the curry chips, they were in superstore. I’ve been looking for them for a long time too. I was drinking & i was eating them. I was able to eat more then i normally could if i were sober because the pain from the spicyness was not as easily felt. I regret it!!!! I burned my lips, they’ve been swollen for 2 days & i burned the back of my throat, my stomach is killing me. They were so yummy but my god the next 2 days have been hell!

Chris… So so true.. Whenever I go to a party, I grab a few Lay’s chips to keep me satisfied. Then, when I go get more, it’s almost gone. Just shows how good they are…

P.S. helen mullen: There still are Curry chips in some stores.

Are you serious? This seems like it was written by some teen in a rage on MySpace. You’re an adult, you can control yourself, you simply enjoyed the chips, therefore you kept eating them, it’s not the chips fault.

Yes, I noticed that Lays had MSG a few years ago and I was like ooooh no wonder you can’t eat just one–I went on this campaign telling everyone I knew WHY you couldnt eat just one. Well, today I just was eating a bag of Lays plain (my favorite flavor) and noticed they no longer contain MSG. But…I also noticed lately I can eat one bag of lays plain and be fine.

Whoever came up with the new formula to cook potatoe chips lately doesn’t have any taste buds!!! I wouldn’t eat another Lay’s potatoe chip if I was starving!!! Why don’t you keep the old recipe for people who don’t have to worry about cholesteral and let us enjoy our potatoe chips???? Audrey

Lays chips used to be fantastic and the saying “can’t eat just one” really was true. Now that the company has caved in to all those out there who hate themselves and everything else and want to control the rest of us by telling us what we like and what is good for us, I have only this to say- the chips are lousy. They have absolutely no taste and I will not waste my time on Lays potato chips anymore. There are too many other brands that still taste good and contain fat-start picking up all those self haters that see this word FAT.

Just like they brought back Classic coke because they tried to change the taste, Lays will hopefully someday bring back the good FAT laced chip. Start picking up those self haters again. FAT, FAT, FAT.

Dear Sir,

How is that you are not manufacturing BAKED LAY’S POTATO CHIPS in INDIA ?
Since Indians are also very sensitive to the fats & cholesterol foods ,it will be worthwhile to start manufacturing Baked Lay’s Potato
Chips. This product will have better acceptability in the market. All children, youngsters as well as old people will, I am sure ,appreciate.

They DO in fact contain MSG, it’s called ‘Monosodium Glutamate’, in fact, MANY U.S. food companies and restraunts use MSG.

hi my family and i are from canada and we enjoy lays chips and we were talking one evening and thought that dill pickle and ketchup chips would be great in a wavy chip also flavors such as roast chicken, fries and gravy and pizza chips would be good
