Kevin Marks on Tagging at Where 2.0

Posted by

Dave Winer made RSS enclosures a part of RSS 2.0 sometime ago. Adam Curry automated the transfer of files from enclosures to his iPod using some clever AppleScript. Sandwiched between these monumental events, Kevin Marks made a presentation at the first Bloggercon demonstrating a command line tool to automatically fetch MP3 enclosures from Adam Curry’s feed. Kevin was creating innovative solutions long before he made this clever pre-podcasting hack and continues to contribute amazing work through the team at Technorati. We caught up with Kevin at Where 2.0 and talked about the value of tagging to searching for relevant information online. He gave us some details on the direction a geo-tags. And he chatted about Technorati’s role in the tag-o-sphere. If you keep scratching your head when you hear tagging mentioned, Kevin sorts it all out here and clarifies a few things that even those in the trenches will find of interest.
