John Frank of MetaCarta at Where 2.0

Local search features of the major search engines attempt to deliver relevant search results specific to a geographic region. If you search for Portland and you live in Oregon, you expect to get data about Portland, OR not Portland, ME. MetaCarta attempts to deliver this same experience to search within documents. At the moment, the company is focused on providing this service to corporations and government entities, but the applications in the consumer spectrum are phenomenal. MetaCarta crawls all the documents within a corporate network, so that when the CEO wants to know everything the company has ever written about Whatcheer, IA the results will return every document with a great deal of accuracy. As part of our Where 2.0 coverage, Chris spoke with John Frank of MetaCarta about what their service is currently capable of in the business realm and what it could do for the Internet at large.

Coverage of Where 2.0 is brought to you by MSN Search.
